I'm looking at all of the new enhancements for hirelings in one of the Warlock trees. My guess is that hirelings will be getting a nice update for the next release.

They're more like Warlock Thralls at this point.
I'm busy planning out a summon build with the new trees, since they also gain a boost from this... hello Succubus.

Too bad those enhancements are a waist of developer time and resources. Now I'm in favor of them working/undoing their hireling mistakes but using this time to make more enhancements that effect hirelings is a total waist.

I don't think it takes much time to add stuff like fortification and melee power to hirelings. Maybe that is why they are adding them... easy way to fill out the enhancement tree with little developer time.
I agree with you that they should just undo the hireling updates... the AI was better before they starting "improving" them.
One of the Devs said recently that they are working on Hirelings... so my guess is we will see an update in the next release.

A couple of things I would suggest for healer hirelings:
1) Give them quicken for Heal/Mass Heal.
2) Have defensive mode mean just that - they don't attack enemies at all and just heal. And in defensive mode they stay close to but not right next to their hirer.

No need to make them awesome. Just make them work. that wouldbe sufficient. Making them somewhat more stable and less running and standing in lava would be nice too. But if they worked again w/o beeing hand-led to the next heal would already be sufficient. And if the Hires get a rework, how about pets?

..they dont need quicken to slam their spell points (they control so well) They need a low or mid lvl Mass Cure ! Way faster spells and the hires spell power is fine...and players just need a quick splash ..not 3000 pts healed ,as the hire gets whaled on during the eight second casting time.
