max dps scorching ray/magic missiles with as few levels of sorc as possible (sorc for more spell points)

thinking either pally/sorc (cha synergy  ) or
fighter/cleric/sorc (ameliorating strike is fun, but not super effective unless twf)

any ideas/ advice on what metamagics are good? I'm thinking maximize+quicken, but can you have 2 running at once? also, is there another class that amp's up fire SP an does good melee dps?

note i don't have any p2p classes other than monk, no arti, no fvs.

This is an interesting approach

You do realize to Maximize the spell Scorching Ray you will need to be at least level 11 to get all three rays. Magic Missile will need at least level 9 to get all 5 missiles.

Based on that I might go 11/7/2 Sorcerer/Paladin/Fighter or 11/5/4 Sorcerer/Paladin/Fighter

11 levels will maximize the two spells you are looking at using.
5-7 Paladin will give you two smites and access to Divine might to work with your charisma to also get a strength bonus as well as some self healing through light spell and LoH as well as the Save bonus.
2-4 Fighter will give you Tower shield prof, First two levels gives you 2 Fighter Feats to enhance you melee and if you go 4 levels you will get a 3rd Fighter Feat.

Now if you go Wizard you can go Int based and gain Three Meta/Wizard Feats (1st, 5th and 10th) and if Harper Tree is an option you have access to Int to melee abilities. You would still need 11 levels for your two chosen spells.

harper tree is not an option sadly, and while I recognize the obvious benefits of the 3 rays, could you make do with fewer? Or would it be too substantial a dps loss

That's unfortunate, as FvS is an obvious splash for a Fire savant for AoV bonuses; more so if you also want Div Might from Warpriest.

That's also unfortunate, as it would make an INT-based Evo Archmage gish more useful.
