Whats the purpose of "You Occasionally Find Small Animals In Your Backpack"? From my experience, this is more than completely useless, its detrimental! Ive worked hard to get my Move Silently and Hide to +70 so I can sneak about in epic elites. However when my ranger past life procs a bat or squirrel, they proceed to follow me squeaking loudly and thus giving my position away! IS THIS INTENDED TO BE DETRIMENTAL TO PAST LIFE RANGERS!>?

You think that's bad? I went and got a barbarian past life. Now I have a raging headache from breaking all those boxes with my head! (At least I always get ransack bonus)

This was probably mean as a joke but lets answer it. If you getting procs bats, squirrel or any other small animals. They come from Colors of the Queen and Double Rainbow (http://ddowiki.com/page/Double_Rainbow).
Effect is called Friends of Nature : Summons a small fuzzy animal that wanders around nearby. Gives no buff, as opposed to ones summoned by the ED.

This is absolutely not a joke. Im not exactly clear on exactly where it procs from. Is it ranger past life or colors of the queen? I really want to know because: This effect causes sneak to fail and that is a serious problem for someone who solos a lot on epic elite and spent huge skill point resources on hide and move silently. It absolutely ruins the sneak effect as mob hear the noised that these useless animals make. It literally gets me killed while soloing or causes me to have just sit and wait for them to time out. My original post was most definitely not intended to be a joke. I consider this a serious game breaking bug for sneaky ranger tactics.

How should I proceed in order to get turbine support to chime in?

Well I spent 3 epic reincarnations on colours in order to boost my dps, is this the price I must pay? Is this meant to be a working as intended detriment to sneak?

I have seen them appear around me, though rarely. Next time it happens I will check out how it affects stealth. Shouldn't it serve as a free distraction? Are other mobs able to kill them or are they invulnerable? Do they disappear if you summon something else?

The Ranger Past Life, to my knowledge, does not actually crate small animals into the world. This is almost certainly happening due to Colors of the Queen or Double Rainbow, which both (by design) can proc the summoning of small creatures. If you don't have either of those abilities turned on, and said animals are still appearing near you... well, we'd be interested in taking a look at your build to figure out what's going on. :)

Well let's assume it IS from Colors or Rainbow. Is it intended that these critters break stealth?

Yes! Small wild animals suddenly summoned to other places or planes tend to make a ruckus.

I don't believe you need Colors for stealth. Maybe you could toggle Colors off while being sneaky, and then you toggle it on for fighting. :)

Sneaking around would never proc colors. Attacking something something with melee attacks, ranged attacks or spells procs colors.
If you get a small animal as a result of a proc it will follow you (even after a fight). So you would have to turn it off permanently pretty much if you want to avoid that.

since it is a summon, I wonder if it will disappear if another is summoned.

I think the OP had it proc while fighting and then was stuck with it. Subsequent efforts to stealth then got messed up. That is why I wonder how they might be gotten rid of, like through their being killed or through another summon.
I remember a similar issue that I had with Primal Avatar. I had selected the Fox, thinking it would help me have fun stealthing. This did not happen.

Interesting. I would have thought that it's behavior (as a non-combatant summon) would have been more akin to a creature companion. Or do those break stealth as well? The mimic is quite noisy.

There's a common theme in DDO. You walk (or sneak or run) along and suddenly some creatures appear out of nowhere. You kill them all and continue onward. With EE rats doing 300hp damage, why chance it. That squirrel/fox/toad may be friendly now, but they're definitely not tame. Like everything else, kill 'em all. Dead toads don't croak.

Is that where those come from? I've been followed by swarms of bats, and find frogs all over in quests and could never figure out where they came from. I thought maybe they were a colors of the queen thing, but never saw any buffs from them. Wow, small furry creatures gathered in my pack.

I was going to post a screen shot of a Deer and I sneaking through the ToEE, it was nice enough to join me on my solo run, but I couldn't figure out how to post a screenshot, bummer.

I had thought about putting them in for Cordovan's screenshot contest, but wasn't sure if they were dynamic enough to compete.

But when I saw this thread I knew I found the perfect place to share them! I laughed long and hard when it happened in ToEE!

As someone with a character with three ranger past lives, I can assure you it is not the past lives causing the problem.

I also have 3 ranger past lives and no small animals appear. Of course I keep my pack sealed up good and watertight, nothing gets out of there unless I want it to, oh and there is that small fuzzy goop at the bottom of my pack I haven't got around to cleaning yet...

Coincidentally, I just came to this thread from your thread about 2100 ToEE chests and no rare items. Now it all makes sense, the deer has been ninja looting your pulls. Go check the forest and you will find one bad ass deer with some fine gear. :)
