I have just recently come back to the game I've always played clariic and what I thoroughly enjoy. but also I thoroughly enjoyed playing a healer focused cleric is this still an excepted play style because it just doesn't seem it

Is more contemporary, but both work. I have a theory that with Amrath and Vale making a comback CLR17 and Mass Heal might be needed, but for now CLR15 work very well.

I roll with Human/PKD with CLR15/PAL3/FTR2. Taking FTR1 early and then get to CLR11 ASAP.

I vote for L15 Iconic Morninglord. I'm an offensive juggernought at L28. One of my most favorite toons to play. Can still party heal.

Welcome back

It's not expected anymore, but having a healer is still very helpful and wanted in heroics (levels 1-20).

In epics (level 20-28), healers are much less desired as the game is full of self-healing options for all classes at this point. However, spot healing is still helpful in epics. And running around with an aura is still appreciated by most folks.

That said, you don't ever have to focus on healing exclusively. As a cleric you'll want to pick either an offensive caster cleric or a melee cleric. Both can heal very well without having to dedicate your character to it. And you can kill stuff well too.

Yes, that. Healing's fine, lots of people appreciate it, but if that's ALL your build can do, it's not doing all it could be.

That's not to discourage you from focusing on healing while playing, if that's your preference, or if knowledge or reflexes haven't caught up. Just be sure to build room for flexibility or growth into your character. I've only met a few people who actually wanted to do nothing but heal long-term. Most folks eventually decide to also contribute in other ways, like melee DPS, or spell DPS, or CC or instakill spells, etc.. And even the few who only want to heal sometimes find themselves in situations where that's not enough. :-)

As a Cleric user, I confirm what the other said, nowadays there's almost no healing oriented clerics left, as healing is not that important anymore.

At end game pretty much everybody has some kind of self healing, and you only need to toss a few heal/mass cures/Greater Restorations from time to time.
Except while learning tactics for new raids and doing Epic Elite end game stuff, mana potion usage is also a thing of the past, you'll always end up with some mana left.
So the best move is to LR ( depending of how long you went away, you probably have one or two Lesser Heart sitting in your inventory ) and focus either on melee, Spell damages or
DC spellcasting. The healing will still be there, but it's just a small part of being a Cleric now, not the center of it.

Good morning guys, I follow the discussion because I am almost in the same situation: I last played with the u14 I think (probably with the introduction of underdark), I tred a cleric and I can't LR atm.
Starting with these stats and having sorcerer pl, how have I to do to build a good cleric now?
Str 8
Dex 8
Con 16
Int 8
Wis 18
Cha 15

Feats taken: 2 x mental toughness, toughness, sorcerer pl.
Skills: everything on concentration, heal.

Any advice?

Thanks

Are you sure you dont have any LRs in inventory cause they gave out LR and LR+20 to all existing toons since u14 I think? Or is my timing off. You got the specs for a combat caster right now if that is your thing. The Cleric forum is slow and most of the good threads on builds are bumped up to the last few pages.

Yeah I am sure: I used it to re-build the toon and tr to a new cleric to have sorcerer's pl.

So I go with the combat caster. Which feat I need?

Thanks so much
