Hi All
probably been asked before, but I can't find enough definitive information as to what works and what doesnt with regards to crossbows and arcane archer tree?
As I understand it, to set the imbues you must switch to a normal bow and then switch back, but otherwise pretty much the whole tree works. Is this right? I also understand that you must be careful not to use abilities like slaying arrow whilst in the reloading animation as this will trigger it but not actually use it (thus wasting SP etc). Also with repeaters and slaying arrow, I'm hoping it fires all 3 times. Is this correct?
please could someone clear this up? I'm hoping to run a dwarven arti/ranger for a flavour build and want to know if I'm wasting my time or not.

The imbues are not supposed to work on xbows, so don't count on them continuing to work with the bug that allows for the swapping. The shots (including slaying arrow) do work, without doing buggy things to it. Capstone works (lvl 20 ranger). So basically, if it says "imbue toggle" or "arrow imbue", it is not designed to work with xbows, if it says "shot" it will work with any ranged.

oooh, thats quite informative thankyou!
what about the abilities like moon bow etc that talk about "equipped bow". Do they work with crossbows too? Also shadow arrows 5% doublestrike, does that apply (ignoring of course the imbue silliness)

AFAIK:
The passive doublestrike bonuses (Shadow Arrow & capstone) apply to all ranged & thrown weapons.
The special atks like True Strike, Inferno Shot and Arrow of Slaying also work with any ranged & thrown weapons.
Soul Magic, Moonbow, and Runebow are short-/longbow-only.
The imbues are not supposed to work with bolts / xbows, but there is an exploit which gets them to apply. Not WAI, so as with all such bugs, be careful about basing your build on them.
