As I am sure plenty of you have already noticed, one particular portion of DeGenev Brother's show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BF9iOKe39k&feature=youtu.be&t=84) looks a great deal like the PnP spell Evard's Black Tentacles (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/blackTentacles.htm). For those not familiar with PnP, this spell filled a similar role as web, only the grasping tentacles could not be destroyed, and they would deal damage over time to anyone trapped by them. Warlocks could also learn this spell as one of their invocations* but with the added effect of dealing 2d6 cold damage to anyone in the area of the spell each round whether or not they were held by the tentacles.
Chilling Tentacles is one of the PnP warlock's best and most fun invocations. In particular this invocation is generally the go-to choice for warlocks with a focus in battlefield control when they get their first greater invocation at level 11. I am really hoping that we get to see it in the game.
I am really excited to have warlocks entering the game (they have always been one of my favorite classes in PnP) and I am hoping that the devs give options for warlocks to shine in their role as controller, not just as ranged blaster or melee dps.
* Invocations are a warlock's version of spells. They are often weaker than what a sorc or wizard would get at the same level, but they could be used as often as the warlock wanted. Warlocks could only learn a very limited number of these invocations, up to 12 with 20 levels in the class, plus eldritch blast which all warlocks learn at 1st level.
