View Full Version : When champions drop remnants or chests, play a sound effect

Hey devs, a simple thing (I think) that would be cool is if you added a sound effect when champions drop remnants on the ground or drop chests. Ideally they would be two different, distinct sounds.

Sort of like how the xp bonus sound effects (ransack/conquest/ingenious) are distinct from each other and add a cool fun flavor, I think this would be a nice addition.

No. It would get annoying really fast. Its better that the retirements go into inventory like epic token pieces. Less lag, and less work, and less problems.

Auto-gather would be preferable - but if they must drop to the ground, would be nice to have a sound bit for them.

And different than the current ones for gems/coins/items from breakables and treasure bag drops.

Some of us WILL probably retire before gathering enough rems to buy anything good. :p

/signed to that or something. I probably miss most remnants, because I simply don't know they are there. They're have to be manually collected, are nearly invisible, and make no sound. Auto-collect, or a sound, I'll take either one.

Now I'm wondering if they made champions drop chests just to side-step the auto-gather request.

If they did implement auto-gather, should they still also drop chests? If yes, then I'd still like a sound notification for the chest drops.

I think a little *plink* sound like from a coin dropping when a remnant falls to the ground wouldn't break immersion, but with the recent change of stuff dropping at your feet im not sure if it is needed in the first place ...

speaking of recent changes maybe there could be a choir of booooooooh-shouts on the 80% of times where elite orange named does NOT drop a chest. It would get annoying soon but somehow it also would be appropriate?!? :D

spam the Q key or whichever is your object selection after you kill a champion, helps a lot

sound effects dont bother me as long as they have a separate on/off toggle in the game options

with the recent change of stuff dropping at your feet im not sure if it is needed in the first place ... When I'm playing, I cannot see my character's feet. Every time I kill a champion I have to stop and look around to see if a remnant dropped.

Here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMzNnogtOMk) is a recent example of what my screen looks like while I'm playing.

Even if I could see my feet, when in groups, if someone else kills a champion, it would be nice to get a notification.

Yep. Gets even more crowded if you have a pet (that likes to stand on whatever you're trying to interact with) and a hireling or two.

well, there is always the issue of dead mobs blocking it too, but even if you do get the sound the mob still might block it. as I said I dont mind a sound as long as its not some loud jinggle or trumpet thing lol

as for your feet in the vid, dont see how lacking those 20 centimeters has much impact. also, i alrdy got used to taking 1 backstep after killing champs so I can better see drops without ever consciously realizing it - or at least that is what occured to me now when thinking about it XD

I gotta say though while I see nothing bad and only improvements about the whole notion, cant say it feels crucial to me, I'd still rather have a random year old bug fixed that even 1h dev time wasted on minor quality of life stuff like this, sry ;)

A confirmation would be nice, since some of my toons move around a lot in combat, making finding the dropped remnants hard to find, especially when i dont know if any have dropped or not.

Aaand here's me wondering why there still isn't an option to ban/disable cosmetic pets in groups.

Because it would remove half the idea of having them?

Hi,

I'd like to see a disable pets option too. That way the people who want to see and hear them can, while those who don't aren't forced.

As for the audio cue idea, it's a good one. My vote is for a farting sound, tastefully done of course.

Thanks.

The point was that the ones that work hard for them, or buy them in the store, want to show them off.

I'd suggest a slot machine like *ding *ding *ding*.

I actually meant my mechno-pup, not cosmetics. I don't let the cosmetic pets lose in dungeons.

(I had a DM eons ago teach me not to take a bunch of chickens into a dungeon, even though they were listed on the equipment page.) ;)

edit: Sorry, Ellis. Didn't mean for my pet woes to derail your thread.

Autocollect please. Having to pick up those remnants on the group is simply very bad design.

As for cosmetic pets having an option to turn those off would be great. I dont care if people buy them to show them off - its grieving to bring them into crowded dungeons and hence the request to decide if you want to see them or not is very reasonable.

While it may be annoying, its no more griefing than having a better toon is.

+1 lol this caught me offguard

Maybe we need a 'frisking the corpse' sound when we pick them up

You could also have the fragments show up on the mini map, maybe something like a little pulsating dot as a marker.
Yeah, option in game play settings for "Do not render other players pets" would be nice. I'd say for cosmetic pets mainly though. I kinda like seeing my friends arti dog in heroics. I can sometimes catch it before he does and let him know, "Hey, your dog is glitched out again..."

I would say /not signed, but I have sounds either turned off entirely or turned down to .02 or something like that. So, knock yourselves out!

+1, devs this needs to happen.
Or auto collect is fine as well.

A better toon doesn't obscure important parts of the dungeon or cause visual chaos.

This QoL change has been requested since cosmetic companions were released, too.

Other toons will obscure important parts of the dungeon. Someone else leading the killcount is an extreme annoyance for some.

And its a Lowering of QoL for ones that want to show off their pets.

(Mind you, i dont have any opinion one way or the other about pets, since i dont let minor things like that bother me, just pointing out that the issue has two sides.)

Hi,

My point is that I don't agree one person's right to show their pet off should trump the right of someone else not to be forced to see and particularly hear it.

Just like in life, where it's not okay for you to redline your motorcycle outside my bedroom window at 3am. No matter how proud you are of it and how hard you had to work to get it.

Some of the pets we have now are essentially griefing tools, for example the parrot. We could have the best of both worlds with a no display option.

As for the OP's suggestion, I think a slot machine sound is the best I've seen so far. Though it should be quiet.

Thanks.

If they are going to change remnants AGAIN then this!
