So, currently I have a 2nd life character who is 12 fighter/6 monk/2 ranger and wields a great axe. I took the two ranger levels to give him some ability to use bows for ranged damage when needed. First life he was a pure barbarian, which I didn't enjoy much (but that was before the enhancement pass and definitely before the latest barbarian pass). What I'm looking for here is just some suggestions on what to do with him. The only requirements are that he continues to use great axes (because he's my only toon that does and I think they're kind of awesome) and that he *not* have any levels of monk. Other than that, I'm open to suggestion when it comes to race, class (or class split) and so on. He's currently a human and he was a half-orc in his first life.

I thought about doing a 16 bard/2 barbarian/2 rogue build because the Warchanter tree could be a lot of fun. I also thought about doing some kind of paladin (pure or split, it's been 5 years since I've been any kind of paladin). I found pure barbarian to be really boring because it didn't seem there was much to do. You just raged and ran headlong into everything. Maybe I played it wrong. (Another example is I just TR'd my bard and was going to go pure, but it was just too boring even with swashbuckling. I swapped in two levels of rogue with a +3 lesser and that added utility has really changed the character for me.) I've never really had a character who uses heavy armor (I have a 17 fighter, but he's really boring too and so he's been level 17 for something like 18 months). I don't want to do anything with monk on this character. I've already got a character who'll be 8 fighter/6 monk/6 ranger that'll be a kensai twf and putting a monk splash on this character will just feel too much the same. Since I'm struggling so much for what to do with this character, I figured I'd ask all of you for some help with it. I'll be interested to see what you suggest and I appreciate whatever effort and time you grant on such an endeavour.

It's hard to go wrong with pure barb or pally these days; but if "running headlong into everything" is boring to you, perhaps you need something MCed just to add some variety. Maybe the latest Cetus build (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/458025-U25-Cetus-Barbarian-with-Manyshot) (THF barb w/Manyshot); maybe something with a rog or arty splash for trap skills.

The new Cetus build is interesting. I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. I'll have a closer look at it this weekend when I am at home again (I only have a computer while at work and my phone when I am not at work, M-Th). I don't have any +6 tomes and that could be a stumbling block for replicating it. That said, I think after a closer look at it, I can come up with something that will be both fun for me and workable given the tomes I have or can acquire.

So, thanks Unbongwah! +1
EDIT: Apparently I have to spread some reputation around before I can +1 you again.

The only stat pre-reqs on neo-Cetus are STR 17 for ITHF/GTHF and DEX 17 for Manyshot; everything else is just bragging rights. ;)

Nice! That's awesome. I can handle that.
