View Full Version : General DDO discussion or the suggestion's bazaar?

Is it me or it looks crazy? Why is it that all of a sudden all the threads and posts that should be in the focused discussions subforums are posted in the general section?
Are the moderators going to move them to the appropriate places or will they just delete the other subforums?

You tell me, why do you post all your suggestions here.
There's your answer!

I agree, which is why I reported this post and asked it to be moved to the Ideas and Suggestions subforum.

I thought you were posting some suggestions in General, too. Maybe I'm just mis-remembering. Either way, who cares? The devs are seeing them. If you have something you want to discuss, you know where the "Create New Topic" button is. :)

Thanks, I imagine you have done the same with the 30+ other threads recently created, right?

Isn't that sort of like being on a team where you fail to score a point and you blame the loss entirely on the last person to fail to score a point? If keeping suggestions in the correct forums was important to you, then you wouldn't have failed to "score that point".

Yah! It is one of those situations: if one person takes a flower from the garden it is fine, but if the whole town does that...
I am the first one to admit I am guilty of it, but heck, the "official loot thread" is in the general discussion!

I've only noticed Lamania topics moved & only sometimes.
I assume it's too much monitoring for one Forum mod.

At this point it is not important or unimportant. It is some sort of forum madness. Heck, there is nothing in it for me! But if 40+ people can comment on loot, rogues, leg shot, unarmed attack, Toee, toee again, and yet toee again.
Then I feel free to comment on how everyone is commenting on the above in this section.

Only because players create new threads on topics that already exist instead of adding on to existing threads.
Thread Necromany is probably better than umpteen new threads on the same topic. Especially since it shows a history of the topic. Say if it's a bug it shows how long it's been going, if it was fixed maybe, where it returned. Yet thread Necromancy is a no no!

Knock yourself out! I don't mind. You provide entertaining commentary some of the time and I'm all in favor of that. /popcorn

Probably has to do with cord not being able to keep up.
But truth is ultimately it is the devs feeding this. If instead of answering here they focused on answering in the correct sections, people would not be posting here.
I recognize a lot of the people posting here from the focused discussion forums. I guess they realized that screaming louder gets the answer.

My tactic for changes I like to see is reserve my feedback for Threads Dev's have touched on or official threads.
Most other stuff is just discussion or opinions , I've learn quite a bit about the game from forum interactions.

I do the same. Everyone does the same, that's why we are here :P
Someone screams (whines? :P ) loud enough for the devs to answer to his thread, then the masses flock. At some point the dev stops answering and then the thread slowly descends to whatever.
Until the next successful screamer. Funny!

I've commented the same to Steelstar.
A bit difficult to dig up the post here not at home but, it was in reference to a random Dev's reply (steelstar)
When a little something like this~
While we appreciate the communications it would be great to have a place for these types of Dev's answers rather than just posting on general & hoping it is seen & replied to.

It's true that I've been pretty lax in moving suggestion threads to suggestions, but if it's a community concern, I'll up my effort to do it. Some folks get a bit touchy when they have their threads moved, particularly for the difference between something that should be in General and something in Suggestions and Ideas, and overall you have to weigh whether it's worth the effort, but if folks feel that it is, then we'll do it.

Then the Dev's get inconsistent with listening & reacting
Thunderforged Shadow Armor had:
From The ShadowsFrom The Shadows: On Being Missed in Combat: Chance to do 10 to 60 Negative Energy Damage to the Attacker.
Players complained this healed undead & a raid item shouldn't heal undead so it was changed to not heal undead
but, they left the Negative energy damage on Dragon mask from Fire peakshealing undead because, it wasn't complained about loudly enough.

Obviously not my call, but don't you guys care about having it all in one place / a bit more organized?

Meh. People should know when they start a thread where it should fall under, but I look under recent topics rather than specific discussion threads.

Post to suggestions ideas if you want no one else to see it...
Please don't overmoderate Jerry, I for one hate when forums try to get too micro-managed in terms of where things go.
I read the general forum, I ignore almost all others except Lam and official when a specific topic pops up.

Exactly. Everyone does this, and we all know it. Honestly, the quickest way to keep suggestions in the Suggestions forum is for Devs to comment in the Suggestions forum.

Then you start having to differentiate just what is a suggestion,, or is it just a complaint,, or maybe a complaint with a wish to have something changed,, or maybe the thread started out as a complaint or maybe even just a question and somewhere down the line suggestions start popping up in the thread,, so where do you draw the line?
I say leave sleeping dogs lie, it will cause less disruption,,, oh wait was that a suggestion or just my opinion? (not trying to be snarky :) )
Honestly, there are plenty times i post semi suggestions in the general section,, but if I have a full blown suggestion I stick it in the suggestion area
just my 2 cents

Like most people, i have only three ways that i find threads on the forum. Dev tracker, Today's posts, or Google.
I have never clicked on a specific subforum to see what was there, and in most cases i don't even notice in which segment of the forums any particular post is located.
