Taming the flames - elemental force damage

So... ran Taming the Flames on Elite while I was level 10. Wasn't able to open the chest with the Jeweled Key because I kept getting interrupted by "Force damage" from each elemental blast. Is this new? Anyone know how to block the force damage or another way to get the chest open?
I have never had this problem with this quest in the past - ran it like 3-4 months ago and it was pretty easy to get the key.

I have Evasion and dodge (18%) and saved versus the fire damage from the blast almost every time - but the "Force damage" hit me every single time.
I tried killing all the elementals but they began to re-spawn before I could kill them all (and heal myself).

Well, I got the key by waiting 5 minutes then sneaking + invis to the chest. Kinda surprised that worked actually; never had to sneak past them before.

There was a champion fire elemental that had the effect "On hit: Force damage". You only had to kill that single elemental to proceed. Not all of them. Another solution is to use other party members to draw aggro away from you. If you are soloing, use a hire that you can hide behind rocks. If you are soloing without a hire, UMD a scroll of summon monster and try using diplomacy on the elemental to distract it long enough to open the chest.
But the fact that when evading the fire damage, you're still taking force damage is something we have already pointed out to the devs to change.
