Hi everyone!

Here's the build I plan to use on my next life, if you have any suggestions to make it more awesome, please share! :D

The basic idea is a trapper swashbuckling bard with buckler.

I choose Dexterity for my swashbuckling damaging stat for a few reasons:
- Able to take weapon finesse feat to complement dex to damage enhancement
- I plan to mostly rely on Low Blow to hit my Coup de grace CDs for instant kills
- The idea is to kill things super fast instead of CCing them. :)

You'll notice I didn't take rogue as my first level, even though that is slightly better for skills. The reason is rogue don't have that many great feats at level one, and I couldn't find anything interesting to take for my extra human bonus feat. I end up loosing very few skills for not taking rogue at first level, and I can take power critical feat later on for better damage.

I take 2 levels of rogue for evasion, and 6 levels of fighter for extra feats, and the possibility to open up martial epic life (if i choose to continue this character into epic!).

For skills, I end with max'd DD and search and almost max'd balance, UMD and Open Lock. I also end with decent concentration for when I need to self heal, and 15ranks of perform so that I can sing all my bard songs.

I'll quote a previous post I made on a similar subject. Bard 15 gives access to Inspire Excellence, still allows for good freeze DCs if going warchanter (especially if you go PDK); 3 Fighter levels are enough for the stance; and 2 Rogue levels are enough for evasion and trap skills since bard levels grant a lot of skill points. All you need to see is if you really need those 2 extra feats from going Fighter 6.

You may go swashbuckler with a similar build and human if you don't have PDK. Just take Different Tack to keep using Cha to hit and damage.
If you have access to Harper (which I don't yet), include Know the Angles to the build.

You should max Perform to max your songs DCs.


Personally, for my roguish bard, I went with PDK Bard 15/Fighter 3/Rogue 2, similar to the Icebreaker (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/446859-The-Icebreaker-A-Freezing-Warchanter-Bard).

She is cha-based, has tier 5 warchanter, with freezes boosted by PDK, while maintaining SD stance (she uses a buckler) for added defense, and Rogue 2 for evasion and trap skills.

If you have Harper, you may wish to consider going INT-based instead: higher DPS from Know the Angles + Strategic Combat II + Versatile Adept and better trap skills. Then you can start rog @ lvl 1 with SWF + Insightful Reflexes. Only downside is losing AC, but...since when has AC been relevant to bards? ;)

Unless you really need those two extra feats or higher-tier PrE abilities, I prefer the bard 15 / ftr 3 / rog 2 combo: you gain Inspire Heroics + Excellence as an epic feat choice; and lvl 5 spells.

Note that once you've chosen your initial ED, that becomes your starting point and you have to work your way thru the adjacent EDs. You can't TR into a different build then "skip" to another Sphere, unfortunately. :(
