Hello all.
On my way to completionist, I have decided that FvS will be my next life.
I intend to go pure, like the rest of the lives, and go all the way to lvl 28, ETR then TR.

This is my first FvS and I do not know what to expect exactly.

* I want it to be a caster, and not melee
* I want decent survivability in case I need to solo (Not Epic Elite solo, just heroic elite)
* In epic levels, I want to be useful

I am a VIP with all adventure packs
My past lives are: sorc, wiz, barb, pal, fight, clr, rog, art, monk and ranger
I have +6 tome used on all ability scores

I would love to get a build suggestion that will include:
Feats
Skills
Enhancements
and named items I should get BEFORE I TR

This is a little something I came up with, please tell me what you think

FvS are, for me, the divine side of Sorc. That being said, there's 2 ways to go about it. PDK or Sun Elf. That's because only these 2 will get the Amaunator capstone of Sunbolt SLA and a +2 spellcraft bonus. (Actually, Shadar-Kai get Amaunator as well, but they are inferior to PDK and Sun Elf.)

The difference between PDK and Sun Elf is that PDK gets 1 extra feat and racial +1 wisdom, while Sun Elf has the option of getting +30 light spell power from the racial tree.

I prefer PDK because I like +2DCs more than 30 light spell power.

Some more specific info now:
For stats, maxWIS (all level ups go here), decent CON, enough INT to not have skill points issues(12 works for my PDK, I guess this would be 14 if you choose Sun Elf), rest in CHA

For PDK:
Skills: max Heal, max Spellcraft, max Concetration, enough ranks in UMD to be able to use any scroll you're interested in, some ranks in Jump for convinience, rest in balance

Feats: Mazimize, Empower, Quicken, Heighten, SF:Evoc, gSF:Evoc, PL: Arcane Initiate, Completionist (If you don't have completionist I'd suggest SF:Necro)
Epic Feats: Great Wisdom x2, Ruin, Epic Light Spellpower, Hellball (or Epic Force Spellpower if you're into soloing and value Blade-Barrier kiting)

Yup, you don't need heavy armor on a caster FvS. It'll offer you +14PRR over medium armor at the cost of 1 feat and 6% dodge.

For Sun Elf:
Skills: Same as PDK

Feats: Maximize, Empower, Quicken, Heighten, SF:Evoc, PL: Arcane Initiate, Completionist (If you don't have completionist I'd suggest SF:Necro)
Epic Feats: gSF:Evoc, Great Wisdom, Ruin, Epic Light Spellpower, Hellball (or Epic Force Spellpower if you're into soloing and value Blade-Barrier kiting)

I hope these help!
-Dal

Edit: Just noticed this is just for past life purposes. Forget PDK and Sun Elf then. Go Human with Silver Flame deity for the Searing Light SLA and -if you so desire- follow the info I posted about PDK.

Looks like a typical Evoker build, which means there's not really anything to add, for better or for worse. The main flaw with FvS is unlike other casters, they only get one SLA (capstone); and apart from Amauntor (Sunbolt), they're fairly weaksauce. :(

I might delay hvy armor prof, but that depends on what TR gear you have. I would probably also skip SF:Necro, but you didn't say what spells you planned to use nor what ED(s) you plan to level, so it's tough to give more specific advice. Sov Host is better for heroic leveling (Unyielding Sovereignty @ lvl 6), but SFlame is somewhat better for epics with Searing Light SLA.

Well your feats are taken at the wrong levels (imho wcbvw), let me explain.

Heighten is worthless until you can reach high enough spell levels to justify using it. For example if your highest cast spell is level 6 and you heighten blade barrier you get nothing from it.

Maximize spell is very expensive and not really usable at low levels due to the sp costs, so taking it at level 1 is worthless too.

Heavy Armor proficiency becomes desirable when you can wear Thunderforged Heavy Armor with Epic DR 30 option, that makes it a possible Epic Feat.

Spell Focus Necromancy is tied into with Spell Penetration and since you don't have all your spell pen past lives, you might want the ability to twist more spell pen by opening up that route with Spell Penetration.

Your favorite school is Evocation, so why not take that early on?

You have totally left out quicken and that is super nice to have.

You did not mention what ED you will be in, which changes things too?

Changed:

Human: Spell Focus Evocation
Level 1: Empower Spell

Level 3: Arcane Initiative

Level 6: Spell Penetration

Level 9: Maximize Spell

Level 12: Quicken

Level 15: Heighten

Level 18: personally Greater Spell Pen if you want to dabble in instant kills or Greater Evocation Focus if you want to be the Evoker

Level 21: Whatever you want.

Level 24: Heavy Armor Proficiency

Level 26: Spell Power Light or Spell Power Fire

Level 27: Ruin

Level 28 ~ Hellball or Mass Frog or Forced Escape (try them out, btw Mass Frog does not properly apply spell pen but that is one of your weakness anyway)

I would love to get a build suggestion that will include:
Feats

See above.

Skills

I like Int of 14 if you can afford it.

Concentration + Heal + Spellcraft
Extra points into Balance
Some into Jump

You can make do w/o UMD as you are wearing Medium armor.

Enhancements

Dump everything into Angel of Vengeance

And don't forget the often overlooked Order's Wrath spell (auto stun, evocation school, will save)

and named items I should get BEFORE I TR

hmm... are you doing epic levels too?

how about a few CitW and hunting down the casting staff from there, but you don't have to have it

I would recommend some plat to use the auction house occasionally, and craft up some tier 2 thunderforged as you go along, or make them ahead of time. Spell Focus Evocation on one of them, maybe spell pen on the other. Light and Force 150 spell power. One could be an orb or off hand weapon, and other could be a dart/throwing dagger.

Darts are nice because you can draw a monster into your blade barrier aoe. Learn the Blade Barrier dances, it is your cup of tea. Comet Fall is also nice along with Greater Command and Holy Smite.

Also a non upgraded lantern ring is nice.
