Running game without admin right?

I just got a new computer and for a while I could not figure out why the changes to keymapping I made did not work after logging out. It turns out I had to run the game with admin rights before that worked. I dont recall that being the case with my old computer though I may simply have forgotten.

Do everyone need to run with admin rights or is there a way to make it work without?

This greatly depends on operating system version, and potentially any number of other-directory permissions and registry entries and...


I'm not completely sure but... I think this might have been one of those things that work just fine and easily on Windows XP Pro but just do not work on Windows XP Home. For example. (That's the only Windows release where I've had Home and Pro versions simultaneously in the house.)

I am quite certain though, that if there is a permissions problem writing the keymap changes to local disk, it's just silently ignored and changes not persisting may well be the only symptom.
