View Full Version : lost 6 chests
at the end of a CITW i crushed, and wasn't able to reconnect fast (actually i had to restart the game 5 time to get in)
guess what? i got the xp and completion, but the people already opened the chests and so i lost 6 loots
is there something i can do?

There really isn't anything you can do at this point. It's unfortunate that they went ahead and opened the chests while you were dc'd. Maybe they didn't notice? If they did notice and didn't give you at least a couple minutes to try and reconnect then that's sad.

Don't worry, it was mostly trash. I don't even know why I still take the time to loot chests, it's not like anything of value will ever drop...

we are talking about the raid, at least a commendation could have been nice, not that i was hoping to find the pinion at 1st run, but at least a try....

It is unfortunate that the group you were in did not wait. It seems speed is the only rule now. However, I would say if it takes much longer than 5 minutes to reconnect it is very likely the group will just loot and scoot.
You can try a GM but I don't think they have ever helped in this type of situation.

how to contact a GM?

Happens to everyone. GMS won't help with loot.
You were disappointed by not getting your chests instead of being disappointed by not getting anything in your chests. Odds are you would get about 40k vendor trash only.

I think you just did the only thing you could do; come to the forums and complain about it.
If it makes you feel any better: you're not the only one who had this or a similar experience.
For instance, I've missed out over a million xp lately due to lagg and a busted epic reincarnation.
Kinda sad as I was very happy that my char finally made it to Completionist.

Realistically there is nothing you can do. So rather than spend your time being sad or angry you should get back in the saddle and play on.

Sadly, speed seems to be everything to some people. I play on six of the servers, and my anecdotal observation is that G-land players seem to be most prone to this.
Just yesterday, I joined a group for Wheloon quests. The PL was spending time afk, but most of the heavy lifting had been done by a sorcerer. I was player #3. So in Friends in Low Places, I was in the situation I despise most: all my effort has to go into trying to keep up with someone, and as a result I don't get to do much else. Anyway, I was disarming some spell wards, and this BA sorcerer runs off into one of the big groups of mobs that spawn in there. He died, said he was too lazy to try to complete, then sent me a pm telling me I wasn't very useful.
Well, if you run off from someone faster than he can move, you can't really kvetch when that person isn't able to give you some backup. My take on it, anyway.

i'm not complaining that much, i just don't get why my the developers of the game didn't set the game to calculate you present in party, while they know you can DC easily in this game.
that would have solved a lot of issues, and a lot of people would have not lost plenty of time

It used to happen regularly in Von6 and other raids as well. These days a bit less.
What they could do is to change the chest mechanics in a way that its irrelevant how/when others loot it, you still get to open a chest yourself and roll out your share.
The PUG is horrible in this respect, best to fix this in the system.

I've seen the situation that you describe many times. Sad. But what is funny is it's often times it's a BF Sorc. If they (the player) are so great, then I don't see why they lame a PUG like this. It would be better that they challenge themselves with a non-BF Sorc. We all know that set up is an easy button. They don't impress unless the save the party of course :) )
My motivation here is to take an opportunity to poke at the BF Sorc/wizzy community and point out that type of behavior is why PUGs are less numerous these days. Or why nobody wants to join your LFM when they get to know your player name and style.
Of course it's not just BF Sorcs, but just wanted to take a swing at them. You know aalot of arties and most trappers don't run fast right? And when we are on a cleric and you are a million miles away and behind too many walls and floors we can't heal you? My cleric doesn't move fast either : ) )
Too many times have I seen this, just too many:

IMO I feel DDO should bust the BF sorc/wizzy combo in the knee cap or two and put some charecter build limitations and penalties regarding the BF sorc/wizzy. The WF ones were bad enough and BF are worse.
BTW I have 5 of these to see what all the zerg zerg is about and even my 1st lifer with 1st level pali is OP.
Show some class people. You are not cool, but rather a tool when you do what is described in quest here. Join, much up quest, **** everyone off, then leave and send a snarky tell on the way out the quest. I blame the parents or lack thereof : ) )
And another thing, you don't get anything extra for zerging thru a quest like that and making those kinds of comments/tells to people, other than the player hate you are seeing here in my post (I'm a sinner just like everyone else).

To the original poster I'm sorry to hear that you missed the chests. Happens allot in CiTW. I have a pinion I never use and I wish I could gift it to you.

It's unfortunate that this happens at all, but it does happen.
I play on Sarlona and around two years ago or so, I was running CITW pretty regularly. I don't remember exactly when my husband and I disconnected from the game during the raid. It may have been around halfway through or so, but we were disconnected for thirty minutes or more because we conveniently lost internet or the connection wasn't going through properly to allow us to connect to the game or something...and we fully expected to have been kicked out of the group by the time we got back in.
To our surprise, then entire group had waited for us to reconnect and even waited for us to make our way to the end and get through to the chest area before opening any chests, despite the fact that we didn't know our way.
For as long as I play this game and thereafter, I will never forget that.
So yes, some people can be pretty inconsiderate when it comes to opening chests, some people will wait a few minutes before opening and some people will go that extra mile.
I'm sorry you had bad luck, but it's good to keep in mind that not everyone you come across will be like that.
I hope you have better luck next time.

True enough. I tried to get to him and help, but it was too late. I died just after he released, about the same time he sent me the tell. Since the PL was still getting his or her kids from the school bus and I was kind of alone there, and I was also at max heroic xp already, just running the quest for fun, I went ahead and released, too.
edit: oh, and yes that guy was either BF or WF. I didn't notice which, tbh.
