View Full Version : Arti Dog bugging with using things?
Had a couple times recently where arti dog wouldn't use levers/doors etc. and also once where it wouldn't pick up soul stones - sometimes it will sometimes it won't - no matter how close it is etc.
Seems totally random when it won't work.

Artificer iron defenders and druid wolves have a tendency to go brain dead after climbing ladders, or when they have the "breakable hunter" enhancement, and someone break the box they were heading to.
As far as I know, de-summoning and calling them again solves the problem. The downside is that you lose their ship buffs.

I was just about to post exactly this! Every time my homunculus stops responding to "use" commands, a dismiss and re-summon has always fixed it, and it happens a lot.

Ladder maybe, at least twice that I can remember was in quests that have ladders. My dog doesn't have breakables enh though. Just TR'ed out of druid and don't recall ever having that problem with the wolf.
Don't use ship buffs so that wouldn't matter to me, doesn't help if you're dead and want them to pick up stone or if you leave them at a lever in quite a few quests.

Since the last updated to hirelings they have gotten some quirks like statying in spot and never moving, and not because of the ladder bug. Also, in Delara's Tomb I've had him trap me between gates because he teleported and would not stay.
IMO dogs were fine except for the ladder bug before the changes. They broke my dog. He was good last night in PoP tho.
I wish they would revert back to the way there were and I can live with the ladder bug.
On a positive note and least when he stands still the monsters don't seem to notice him and attack him.
I find myself dual boxing allot more now and not using the dog.
EDIT ~ although I've enjoyed allot of the updates, but dang, us arties keep getting kicked in the privates with each change. They done neutered the dog too!

I will also add to artie dog + ladders = bugged dog. You unsummon - resummon and it gets fixed.

Sadly, all of the above.
But the die hards among us love our mechno-pups and ever so patiently wait the Powers to unfix the fix that 'fixed' them. ;)
Even knowing the extra bugginess, I still train my pup to break stuff. When he's working, he does seem to enjoy himself.

With new AI changes I think there is a new issue where stand ground command won't stick if it is issued when stances are on cooldown. For example when you teleport hire next to you by giving them follow command. Teleport causes abilities to go on cooldown and during that cooldown hire won't notice that you gave it stand ground command. Same thing when you for example put him on passive for lever use and that triggers stance cooldown too.
Arti dogs have always gone brain dead after climbing ladders. If you want them to keep their buffs you must micromanage dog alot on maps with ladders.

The dog stops responding at times and stands still when no ladders are used or present in quest, i.e. Prison of the Planes (although the dog behaved the other night).
This is beyond the ladder bug. To stick to the ladder bug distracts from the new issues that have cropped up since the recent changes.
