View Full Version : WF Sorc Build for heroics only?

I'm going to run a TR life w/ a guildie, and was going to TR my cleric into a WF Sorc, probably Fire initially and then move to Air around GH/Vale. This toon will TR as soon as he hits 20, so no EE or destiny aspects are relevant. This will not be a Shiradi/Draconic build. Is it worth splashing Paladin/Monk/FvS at all to run heroic elites, or is pure Sorc fine?

It's my experience that a pure wf sorc is plenty fine for heroics. I usually go with acid first then switch to air. Point is, you can pretty much just faceroll your keyboard to level 20.

Pure sorc - WF or not - is absolutely viable through Heroic and Epic elites. WF makes it easier due to repair spells but with the high CHA it's easy to get enough UMD to use heal scrolls for fleshies. Just remember - blur, displace, haste should never drop. Jump-cast all spells. First 2 feats should be maximize and empower for your SLAs. I prefer ice throughout the life - especially if your guildie has a way to take out skellies easily since almost nothing else is ice-immune.

Yep WF is fine and a very fun build. Everyone has a different view of what element is best and for me Fire is hands down the best and fastest for clearing a dungeon in 90% of the quests and I use air as backup. Once you get firewall there is no more efficient way to cdo a dungeon then zerg and pull half the dungeon and drop it. Your fireball SLA with Max/Emp makes for a quick easy high DPS AoE to go along with it. Plus a lot of the best xp quests before GH are undead and fire is perfect for them. GH is still easy to clear with fire and the firewall idea still works fine. Vale gets a little more difficult but I never spec out of fire I simply use my air spells more when facing demons/devils but there are a lot of mobs in the vale still affected by fire. Oh and Scorching Ray is a single mob killer with HUGE DPS numbers.

Last report I saw was that if you take the fireball SLA, both the fireball SLA and the fireball spell automatically fail their DC, meaning they both only do half damage, or none if the mob has evasion.

Wow I don't know I haven't used the SLA for about 6 months so not sure on that. If that is still happening that certainly changes a few things. I still find it hard to beat a Fire Savant using Firewall for optimal killing to spell point ratio. But the fireball SLA would hurt for sure. Wish a Dev would comment.
