I know a lot of people do not like the idea of PVP, but sometimes while you are waiting for groups standing there doing nothing...it would be fun to clear dungeon areas of all mobs leaving just traps etc. And allow them to be used for PVP areas even with options for raid groups to have guild hosted competitions...the only requirement is that the dungeon had to be previously completed on elite by all parties. I just say this because we all know there are times we all just sit there outside the entrances of quests waiting. You can merely say...I have not yet completed this on elite to opt out if you dont want to fool around in a meaningless battle if you do not like.

*check thread location*

Thread not located in PvP subforum, so fair target.

No Way.

Dev time is already at a premium, It doesn't need to be wasted on making changes on an afterthought system called PvP.
( except to create local chat channels for the brawling pits so that they do not spam the whole areas with epeen chatter ).

this is for one the suggestions forum location and the changes would be very minimal, just no spawn and allowing to have private brawling pits just to on occasion do something besides sit there at quest locations if you are waiting for a group. I myself jumped into tavern areas at low level and have been one shotted. Not real fun.

Gotta add a /nope to this one.

FWIW, if you really feel the need to go PvP in a dungeon instance, try Blown to Bits.

Just use the other pvp thing and form teams no need to waste dev time on uselessness

The only location where PVP threads will be left alone is the PVP subsection.
Any PVP thread posted outside of that section is a fair target for those that just want PVP killed. ( as defined by Cordovan a few years ago )

Now, the changes would be far from being minimal...
The game was not designed with PVP in mind it was an afterthought that came after several modules ( and was left to rot 'as is ' ) because a vocal category of people whined for it at that time.

You have no idea what it would take to do this.(And no, neither do I, I just dont assume I know.. But at least I have a programming background so I understand its NOT "minimal")

Did they get rid of the private instance PvP stuff? I could of sworn it already existed.

there is no need for devs to start mucking around with PvP settings in quest instances. No good could come from it.

just saying:

- if you step in a quest, after 10 mins in, whoever joins will get the loved xp penalty
- if you can do pvp, that means there're at least 2 players, which are more than enough to complete any dungeon (so you don't need to wait anymore, in fact is more balanced and challenging trying to shortman that quest, than doing pvp inside that quest)

sadly on raids most times you will only see applied the 2nd point

btw, completed it on elite for doing pvp? and stepping in an instance to do pvp? my brain can't compile that information

PS: what you are asking for is what i was expecting from ddo!! it's called... friendly fire! i also was expecting turn based fights but what i found was another wowish game, at least has a bigger DB tho, and DB is all what a RPG needs

PS2: that suggestion is in fact, a wow clone

I do not PVP. I do not like PVP. I do not think PVP has a place in a party-based game based on DnD unless it be in the form of team vs team or 'speedrunner' type events.

That said:

I really see zero harm in just opening up some of the dungeon maps, minus spawns and with traps/switches etc, to be accessible from within the tavern area, through a portal door or something. If 6 people wanna go in there and murder each other's characters I don't see why I should be automatically against that.

Yes, it's dev time, but it's also a really quick way to expand a whole section of the game (a section I have no interest in, but neither has it even for one second impacted on my gameplay or experience)... and would give a newb a way to learn quest layouts if nothing else.

You do that by running the **** quests.

To the OP

Nope. Bad idea.

In casual no one dies. And it's not E-peen-sabering its just...beating on each other until you get a party going or everyone is ready to go in. And yeah, people run elite quests several times in some instances...you do it , I do it...its called grinding for gear.
