For those of you that don't know it, Green Star Adept is a prestige class in Complete Arcane.
An arcanist feeds on starmetal and gains melee prowess, eventually turning in a construct, a statue of himself.
This prc is badly done, but I very like the concept of a magician enhancing himself to the point he turns in an arcane powered war machine.
That said, I would like to build a melee warforged wizard trying to keep the flavour of a great human mind in a great metal body, and I can't decide how to build it.
The only things I'm sure about are it'll be a warforged with adamantine body, with at least 11 wizard levels for reconstruct, using harper for int to damage and know the angles.
I really hope you guys can give me hint and advices on this build :)
20 CON and 18 INT on a 36 point build, with 4 leftover points.
Original idea was going THF, but a starting STR of 12 is too low, it would require a +5 STR tome.
Maybe SWF with BSwords is a better option, going with 8 STR and putting a couple points into dex for Precision. This will be easier to build and I think I'll go this route.
This is what I came up with:
17wiz/3ftr
PROs: lvl 9 spells; PRR/MRR and +20% hp from stance; 13 heroic feats.
CONs: hard to qualify for weapon feats having 11 bab at level 20; EK is a weak tree.
Build options: either EK or Harper T5
16wiz/4ftr - 14/6
Similar to 17/3, but with more feats and +6 CON. Obviously no lvl 9 spells. This could pick stalwart T5 if worth it.
Occult Slayer 11wiz/5brb/4ftr - 11/6/3
PROs: OS T5 is much better than EK; higher bab (might not need Tenser); higher hp that synergyze with stance +20% hp; higher PRR/MRR.
CONs: cannot use rage; fewer feats; lower caster level.
The most flavourful build idea is the occult slayer. It would be all about using magic to fight magic users, lol. I think OS really fits into this build flavour.
Occult slayer doesn't require raging at all, has +1 crit multiplier on 19/20, lots of MRR and hp, gains temporary hp when hit by spells, has an emergency heal, knocks down casters, etc...
It also has an ability that stuns on vorpal, PSWF basically doubles the chances.
Stats: 8 9 20 18 9 6 (qualifies for precision with a +4 dex tome which I have, 3 points into wis for higher will saves). Level ups INT.
12 heroic feats would be something like: swf, iswf, gswf, precision, empower, quicken, maximize, adamantine body, bsword proficiency, ic:slash, insightful reflexes, mental toughness.
It lacks cleaves but has no save aoe spells to deal with mobs of monsters.
I know this build can't compete with swashbucklers and paladins, but I hope it will be good enough for EH.
What do you think? Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)
