Still no official announcement of the downtime for the update, but presumably that's the day it'll be coming too since iirc they need to do a server restart for the Jester thanks to the terrain changes?

Kinda. They can be sold for plat, and occasionally (pending type and quantity) for shards; they're also occasionally useful for trading. Some people really like 'em, I personally haven't bothered using them but can't bring myself to delete them (or much of anything else for that matter ;)) either. I've got a Cookie Jar filled to capacity, and several more stacks on a bank toon - and that's after having sold and traded too many to remember.

Ice Storm: slows enemies 50%. no save, no spell resistance check.

various offensive effects: used by my melees to attack while closing. This way I can avoid the lag of switching weapon sets.
Radiant Forcefield. 25% damage reduction of most damage
Fireshield: 50% damage reduction of cold damage
Coldshield: 50% damage reduction of fire damage
Jump +30.
Shocking Weapons
Titans's Grip: +6 Psionic bonus to strength
INfernal Power: +4 Profane bonus to strength, dex, con. BAB equals character level.
Kobold Cookie: spawns a purple crystal

So I would say that yes most of them are worth keeping. Some of them are useful, some of them are situationally useful, some are useful depending on class/race/character/group skillset and some of them are considerably less useful. I found them a lot more useful and fun when I stopped trying to save them for their best use and just used them when it seemed fun.

The trick is to remember to use the things! At low levels they're pretty much universally great, especially the summons & various offensive spell effects, they can make life a lot easier. At high level, those kinds drop off, but things like radiant shield & fireshield are good all the way to cap since they scale really well, ditto certain buffs if you don't have access to them on your character.
