must be something on my end. Internet is working fine, but game is goofy. Loading screens of lag.

What would buffers do with old connections? Reboot your pc. Most likely some service hanging out that used ddo is still hanging out. I have done the reboot pc thing and it fixed the cleaning up old connections message. other times I had to log into a different server. So try those.
