I want to turn my Level 28 Druid into a Level 28 Paladin. Can this even be done given the alignment problems.
If it's not as simple as a lesser TR, what is the fastest way to do it?
Thanks.

Option 1) cost = time to level
1. ETR
2. TR
3. level up as Paladin
Option 2 ) spend TP
1) 4X +5 heart of wood ( change to non alignment restricted class
2) Alignment change from DDO store ( change to lawful good
3) 4X +5 heart of wood ( change to paladin
* think there is a 3 day reincarnation timer on using +5 hearts
Option 3) TR & TP
1) ETR
2) TR
3) Ottos box
4) level the rest of the way to 20.
5) Epic otto's
6) level to cap
I'd choose option 1

If we're to assume you don't still have your +20 heart of wood lying about, then the real best method for you would be to HTR (hopefully preceded by ETR) and level back up.
If you're really determined to make this transition, you COULD buy a bunch of (on sale) +5 hearts, use them to first transition fully to an alignment-neutral class like Wizard, and then again to go paladin. If it's +5s you use, this would require 8 of them ((20/5)*2).
Edit: Oops, undercut by the guy with more accurate information.

Well given I did forget the +20 heart but, that's a big IF

It's my +20 heart of wood I used to TR this time. Actually, I have not done it yet, my char has the reincarnate option when I log in, I just haven't used it yet cause I don't know the best way to do it. What does the +20 heart reincarnation do for me in this situation?

You could use the heart to go from 20 druid to 20 fighter, then use an alignment change to go to lawful good, then buy 4 +5 lesser hearts of wood to turn 5 fighter levels into 5 paladin levels, wait 3 days then do it again untill you are 20 paladin.
It would still be faster, cheaper and more fun (assuming you actually enjoy playing the game) to just TR and start over as a level 1 paladin.

It replaces the four +5 hearts in step one (or three) of Option 2. You still will need the four +5 hearts, and the alignment change from the store.
Personally I would go with option 1, as aside from the rather substantial cost of 2 and 3, the releveling process will give you tme to familiarize yourself with the new build as you go.

It would allow you to LR into a non alignment restricted class in order to change alignment, then youd have to get 4x+5 LR hearts - if you didn't want to TR into something else and re-level.
Less costly method is to just TR it into the paladin and re-level as a paladin. You could ottos box that which would be less waiting than the option above.

+20 heart will allow you to change all 20 of your classes, with some caveats.
1) You can only ever have 3 classes, and that includes potential future classes you would be switching out while re-leveling during the respec process.
2) It does not change your starting alignment, so all alignment restrictions still apply.
Lastly, this is a lesser TR, not a True TR. While you may have not used the word intending to say True Reincarnate meaning starting over at level 1, it does mean that you're not actually TRing, you're just doing a massive respec.
Basically, if you've already used that as a druid hoping to be a paladin, then you are unfortunately unable to do that because your alignment remains unchanged and paladin requires lawful good while druid requires some level of neutral, preventing any overlap. Best you could do is decide if there is some other class you'd like to play other than paladin, or if there is some other past life you'd like to have instead of druid, assuming you'd later use a True Heart to TR.

I have actually done something similar with half the cost.
1. Started my LR+20, logged off, then clicked the reincarnate button to come back into reincarnate grove as Lv 1
2. Standing in the grove I realized i was the wrong alignment so I opened the store and bought the alignment change
3. I could not use the alignment change as it can only be used in a tavern
4. Submitted a ticket
5. Online Dev saw the issue and had me level back to 20 and then when i was done had me leave the reincarnate grotto and use alignment change in the tavern
6. Dev gave me a new LR +20 to go back in and level the way I wanted after alignment change was completed

Yep the Devs fixed your boo boo. You got lucky I would bank on that option.

It wasn't my 'booboo'. The problem is that the alignment change is tavern only, you should be able to use it in the grotto. It is designed poorly, you should not need to buy 4 - LR5 because of a design flaw. The Dev recognized the issue and rectified it. That's what happened but thanks for the bugbear **** in my campsite.

While I agree with you that you should be able to use the alignment change while in the place between worlds but only if it does not break alignment restrictions they currently are under. I am not sure I agree that it should be able to be used in the way you described when moving from one alignment restriction to another such as must be Chaotic to must be Lawful Good.
Reasons:
During an LR leveling process you technically are the classes that make up your build, so even if have not taken all the levels your build is still restricted by class restrictions as Turbine cannot assume which levels you are actually going to switch out. This prevents mixing classes that should not be able to be mixed or getting people stuck because they can't remove levels their initial build has because they are no longer alignment compatible.
The GM still had you continue to level to 20 which you most likely took levels not restricted by the alignment you were going to, and then gave you the ability to redo your LR+20. Your GM went above and beyond in my opinion and I'm glad to see them do stuff like this as it is good for PR. But every GM seems to handle situations differently enough that I would not count on this as a solution.
Example: two different ERs both of them I lost all the ED XP but not my Fate Points and in both cases had multiple Epic Past lives. One instance the GM gave me all my lost XP but at the same time Leveled my character so that when the process was done I was Level 28 and EDs were nearly filled (that little gap between 1,980,000 x 3 and 6million XP or about 60,000 XP.
Another time the XP simply went to the EDs and Karma only. Other Guild mates that have run into this same issue have also had similar experiences of either just the ED/Karma or All XP earned during a fix like this.
But ultimately the cheapest money way to switch from a 20/28 Druid to a 20/28 Paladin is to have the Heroic True Reincarnation as part of the mix. However, this does mean putting in the time releveling.

No you got lucky after you made a boo boo.
If you could have used the alignment change in the grotto (which did not exsist when alignment changes were created) your class levels could have locked you out of changing alignment.
Stop trying to suggest your "got lucky" situation as a possible solution to other players who may then follow your advice and not be as lucky. Bugbear yours.

Its not a got lucky situation when they allow you to use the store in the grotto to purchased item. If I had it in my inventory and could access it when I walked into the grotto for my LR (impossible) I could possibly see it as 'lucky' but that wasn't the case.
The store is available, the object purchased changes alignment, if one isn't allowed in the grotto neither should be. If one works they both should work, case closed the GM agreed with that logic. It is a valid purchase there so no luck involved, Turbine made money and the right call.

No you got lucky and got a GM who did not tell you they could not help you you must use the item as intended in the tavern.
There are plenty of store items that can be purchased in areas or at times where they can not be used.

You made a boo boo like it or not you failed to read the descriptor of the item you purchased. It clearly states "useable only in taverns" the location you purchased it from is of no correlation. You just got lucky and some Dev decided to help you out instead of just telling you "tough lucky" Devs are not required to correct player error though from time to time they do nice things.
Do buy another alignment change in the grotto and see if you get lucky again but, don't advice other players to take that gamble.

Good to know the GM was helpful. Pretty much all my recent past experiences with them were just a bunch of copy+paste "sorry, no cookies for you".
