View Full Version : Cormyrian Rapier Crit Bug?

Hi. So running a Bard and most rapiers I equip with all my enhancements and feats etc have a crit range of 15-20. The crits are my builds bread and butter. So I figured I'd craft up a Cormyrian rapier. Boreal and Corrosvie Salt and Imp Destruction. Meh. Not bad. Not the worst combo I guess, but not the best. Anyways I equip it and check it out, but it only has a crit range of 18-20. Yikes. That's terrible!!!!!
Anyone else seeing this? Is this a known bug and I just haven't stayed up to date? Is Turbine aware and looking at it? Am I totally wrong and it's not supposed to be 15-20 for a Cormyrian item with all my character selections?
If this is either a bug or WAI then I guess no surprise why I almost never see people running these. I have 13 alts and I run them once or twice for exp first time bonus. Not too bad for some quick exp drops. But for mats the only toon I've ever crafted with has been my Shuricannon thrower to get a paralyzing one which I liked, but if I recall (been a while) i think there was a bug with it's crit profile as well.
How about a challenge gear update Turbine? These 5-10 minute quick quests were a good concept in my mind. A nice way to kill some time, but if there's no value in running them apart from a change of scenery then no one will run them. .....much. At least after the first time bonus.

Did you swing the sword ? If you just look at it in inventory it will only show the standard crit not increased with you IC feat.
Even the inventory display shows wrong if you have something that expands the range or multiplier. You just need to swing it and see what you crit on.
And note that corrosive salt is a % chance not an on crit process.

As Toro12 stated. Sometimes things display differently than how they behave. For example, when I equip my UMD bonus items, there is no display change for the percent to UMD an item.
The Cormyrian weapons (and, I suspect, the other Cannith Challenge weapons level 16+) might be getting a W-base damage boost according to this (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/451858-Update-24-Drop-Rate-Increases/page3) thread.
Corrosive salt is excellent. It averages to nearly 10 pts of damage and is never resisted, good boss beater. In fact, the one you made is good as such since it also has Improved destruction!
Thrower builds have run into lots of bugs; I lost track of them.
If you are making a Shuriken, try to make one like this hottie (although in its level range peeps use thunderforged):
