There has been a massive airship upgrade since I last played and now I don't understand it at all! Prices on the amenities are much higher than they were and some only seem available through astral shards. Could someone just let me know:

Are there other ways to obtain amenities than AS?

Are the amenities permanent now?

Thanks! I appreciate the help.

The new ammenities are pemanant and they either cost plat or shards. The old ammenites are still avaible and live in the cargo hold. Some of the old and new amentieis stack. Also, there is a rare chance that the new ship ammenties drop in end reawrds.

Here is a link to a guide I reference sometimes:

https://www.ddo.com/en/airship-purchase-and-amenity-guide

BTW I can't spell amenites.

Thank you so much! I was a bit upset that the old amenities were gone. Now I'm happy again. :)

Regarding the ships themselves, as far as I know once you've purchased an airship with astral shards, there's no discounted price to upgrade to a bigger astral shard ship. Instead you have to pay full price. For example, if you've bought the Daedalean Glaive for 2650 AS and now you want to the Daedalean Trefoil, you have to buy it for 3300 AS which is what it would have cost you to just purchase the Trefoil to begin with. Can anyone confirm this from experience?

Airship astral shard prices (from DDO wiki):

Stormglory Bolt 1,000 AS
Stormglory Tempest 1,650 AS
Stormglory Typhoon 2,000 AS
Daedalean Glaive 2,650 AS
Daedalean Trefoil 3,300 AS
Daedalean Kraken 4,000 AS\\

If you bought a Bolt for 1000 and then wanted to buy a Kraken, and did, you would be out 5000 AS based on the above numbers.

Also, from teh Guide, "The Windspyre and Volant line of airships are available to purchase for platinum, provided that your guild meets the required minimum level, while the Stormglory and Daedalean airships are available to purchase for Astral Shards, and have no minimum level nor “upgrade path” – simply select the airship you wish to purchase and it’s yours!"

The guild I'm in has the Stormglory Typhoon. I am now just waiting to take over the guild once the successor has been gone long enough. Unfortunately, the GM I spoke to says he can't give me guild leadership right now, so I have to wait until about mid-December. Once that happens, I plan to purge and restore the guild I was in so that I can keep the airship, but get rid of the inactive players (which is everyone but me right now!). I wish I could just take leadership now so I can get the ship and guild the way I want it.

I currently have a fleet of 4 airships, both plat and AS.

Through attrition I'm the last active member in 2. However, I don't intend to purge anyone. I demoted them all to member to maintain control over the amenities and to block access to the good liquor in the officers' chests. They are welcome back any time and can use the regular chests + the 2 in the new storage.

On 2 of the ships I bought the new Guild Storage I amenity and got lots of new slots to stash my treasure hoard. Guild Storage I is available starting at level 19 for 150 AS and Guild Storage II becomes avail at level 50 for 125 AS.

On a silver daily roll I won shards that got me into the shard exchange. Sold some of my treasure hoard on shard to fund my fleet. As long as you have 1 AS you can post 1 item on the exchange. I've been down to 1 several times.

I just put down another 150 AS in the Harbor showroom for a third ship and Guild Storage I, once that guild hits level 19.

The easiest way to get extra storage in game is to favor farm the 150 TPS needed to buy a Guild Charter and then level the guild with my alt till I get to the level to unlock the storage. I used to level the guilds for the old school chests, but have changed tactics with the new. Now I go after both old and new storage for moar!

I've decided to focus on 4 ships atm and get them all to Guild Storage II and that will be my stash fleet for now :)

Is this still true or have the Devs fixed the upgrade prices yet?
