If I want to twist an ability that has tiers above the ability in question, do you receive the benefits from above or do you have to twist in the upper level item?

For example, my FvS is in DC currently, but just maxed it out. I am thinking of further grinding some ED's, but would like clarification on this point (hopefully).

Specifically, Consecration is an active ability at tier 2, so that seems easily twistable, but the abilities above that are passive so that doesn't make sense to me to twist without the base ability.

Thanks for any insight!

No free lunch. You only get what you twist for.

Twisting just Consecration will not provide the healing of Sacred Ground, nor will Twisting just Sacred Ground grant Concecration - you must Twist in both to have both benefits.

You only get the benefits of the specific ones you twist. You are allowed to twist higher ones without twisting pre reqs, but that's the only break you get.

SO if you twist Prism, Is there any way to get Rainbow on it?

Unfortunately if there is an active component in a pre req that must be activated to get the benefit of a higher level component, then you will need to twist both. Prism is a good example. To use rainbow or double rainbow, you will have to twist prism as well so that you can enter the stance.

Consecration is required for sacred ground or crusade because you need the active component to start it.

Anything in a Destiny Tree that has a prerequisite, even if the prerequisite isn't something you need to activate, you still need that prerequisite for the twist to work.

That's not true. Energy burst works quite nicely all by itself and it has prerequisites. It's only prerequisites that must be activated in order to gain the benefit of the higher tier that have to be twisted as well.
