Swashbuckling and defender stances stacking?

So upon inspecting a players buffbar today i noticed both stalwart and swashbuckler stances active in the same time.

I was expecting them to be mutually exclusive like general stances... Is this WAI?

Yeah, they cooperate nicely with each other - however, you're restricted to light/no armour, finessable weapon & nothing heavier than a buckler for shield, so your PRR & MRR are capped & the greater stance benefits from stalwart can't be used. The stalwart swashbuckler build is a pretty nice one though.

As far as I know they removed the title "defensive stance" from Swashbuckler back in Beta to allow those hybrids. I've seen plenty running around double stancing and the dwarven defender parody Zoda made is a well known build using both.

No you can get the greater benefits, because that's either holding a shield or wearing heavy armour. A buckler still counts as a shield.

Ahh yeah my bad - medium or heavy armour or a shield of any type.. silly me - was muddling it up with the "nothing heavier than a buckler" bit for swashbuckler

I've been having fun with a 11Rog/5Brd/4Ftr build I drew up. The main issue is lack of self-healing, but with defensive roll and 1000 HP, I don't take much damage.
