View Full Version : Best "general" level 24 items?

I have not had much chance to play Cove this time but I have about 5000 shards left after making a level 24 spyglass. I play only one character and TR a lot, so I don't need anything for a specific build, but am wondering if anyone has any advice on "generally useful" items I should prioritize at level 24? I will probably edge towards casters going forward, though the ornamented dagger still seems to be a shadow of what it once was...

The ring (+2 luck among other goodness) is pretty good. The dagger is worthless, don't bother with it.
The buckler is pretty neat for toons that use one, but the same can be said for other items. The best generic imo is (after the spyglass) the ring, and of course some crystals bought with left-over dubloons.
I'm not entirely sure if a grog still works when Cove isn't around; if it does, getting some of those might be worthwhile for when you run butcher's path and the like as a TR; having a heap of mappieces ready when Cove returns can be nice.

some of the stuff not already mentioned for low level chars is the jolly roger bomb, only 100 silver each. its ML 5, so works well for levels 5 thru 12, maybe a little higher.

you probably already have these but the Stalwart Trinket which is mostly good on tanks who take alot of hits, having earth guard at low level (ML 4 ) can really make tanking easier. The primary boost is the Earth guard, so need to upgrade it to tier 3.

If your a caster the Cunning Trinket gives 50 extra SP, ML 4. this stacks with everything but itself. Also as a caster I'd pick up ornamental dagger tier 1 weapons of level 16, 20, and 24. this only costs dubloons, and gives you some easy general potency to boost all spells. You might want to upgrade the level 24 to tier 3.



Besides these items there is a nice item worth mentioning in cannith challenges: all characters can benefit from a ML 3 Bracer of Wind, which has blur on it. Even if you can cast it, this saves mana, and you don't have to worry about it running out. If you are a caster (and you should keep it up to date with your level), it gives boosts to electrical based dmg spells,which works well for druids,arties,wizards, and sorcs.

and/or spyglass/ring/light and heavy armour/shortsword for bards... 20/24 could be decent epic twink gear. ymmv

If you're TRing, the trinkets are good at low levels. At higher levels, the Cunning trinket can be used to boost spell points for buffing.

The ring is awful, better off just slotting good luck in a slot on another item

Yeah I might go for the buckler as I haven't played a char using a shield in a long time. Or maybe the armor.

Of course it's level 24 and I will generally TR as soon as I hit 28 so I guess it doesn't matter that much. :)

What do you mean by "crystals"? The gems with the air elementals? I have so many of those but could get more. :)
