What to do with bound tomes?

OK, so this probably sounds like a ridiculous question... but I've been playing a long time and all my main characters have +4 or +5 tomes for their main stats and at least +3 for their other ones.

Yet the game keeps giving me bound to account tomes either from daily rolls, loot, or favour rewards.

So what do people do with them? Purified eberron shards is one trade-in option. Are there others? It seems like they are rare enough they should be worth more than plat.

If this was the Suggestion thread I'd say 3 tomes makes a +1 heart of wood. ;)

I use my excess tomes to put under the shorter leg of the table to balance it.

I am pretty sure the tomes from the daily dice rolls are Bound to Account (BtA) not Bound to Character (BtC).

I think I do remember a couple of BtC stat (/stat upgrade) tomes if any I have gotten from drops, chests, or breakables have been BtC. The only ones I definitely remember as BtC are for making Champion total favor, and yes I have no use for them. Before Cannith crafting I would just discard them. It does not bother me to turn in the stat tomes for Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragments (PEDFs) as I use a lot in my Cannith crafting. Personally I wish +1 stat tomes could be exchanged for PEDFs maybe 4 PEDFs for the +1 tomes.

3 bound to CHARACTER +2 or greater stat tomes (not upgrades) for a lesser heart sounds reasonable to me. Maybe even a True Heart of Wood because at this point you have already probably TRed twice and know how to farm Tokens of the Twelve so it is just a short cut freeing from a little farming.

Bound to ACCOUNT stat tomes I do not see allowing as a person/character may not have TRed previously and every character should go through the pain at least once or buy their way out of it.

For BtC upgrade tomes, I guess they can come up with another use besides PEDFs.

For unbound tomes, definitely leave alone. There are plenty of ways to make Astral Shards, platinum, or PEDFs from them. I would not have near my platinums without selling them (post at 20k with 500k buyout, and amazingly it almost always sells before my next login at 500k. The AH is insane.)

I wouldn't mind seeing something set up to be able to trade them in as well. I also have some skill tomes that I have won from the daily dice rolls that I can't do anything with that moment as well. Having some type of ability to barter these would be nice.

Hitting 1750 on a TR has the same problem - that BtC +2 stat tome.

Options would be good.

I have a number of BtC/A skill upgrade tomes that I will never use, or can't be bothered to store until I will use them.

Frankly, they're mostly a scam to make us buy pre-req tomes and the (AS)AH prices are pretty wack.


Unfortunately, I can't even trade these skill tomes for purified eberron dragonshards.

assuming you have no use for them (e.g. if it is. BTA and you do not have another character), you can trade them with the vendor in the crafting halls for purified eberron dragonshards. Select the 'essence trading' option and drag-and-drop in the window. They are used in crafting and can be posted on the AH.
Skill tomes--dump them--can't be exchanged for anything.

Daily dice rolls are a free little bonus and really help newer players more than vets.

You also get bound skill tomes from end rewards. I have only recently learned not to bother with upgrade tomes.

Yeah that's what I do. I do very rarely still craft the odd item so it's those shards.

crunch them in the Cannith crafting hall for Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragment. thats about all they are good for, I keep a set in case i want to roll a fresh toon. so handy to keep 1 set on the spare.

right, talk to the guy in crafting hall and select trade in materials, 2nd option down. Then you can put the tome in the window and it should show you what he will trade for it. If it doesn't go in the window then he won't give you anything for it. I remember +1 tomes giving 4 purified dragon shards, I don't remember seeing +2 or +3 tomes in the list.

If you can get purified shards, definitely do it. If someone has small eberon shards, and nother person has a tome +1(unbound), instead of using the small eberon shards to get the purified shards, which only gives 3, you can trade it for the tome +1 (unbound). the tome +1 give you 4, and the 3 small eberon shards can be turned in to give http://ddowiki.com/page/Rest_of_the_Eladrin_Statuette.

On cannith, +1 tomes are gonig for 100 K on AH nowadays. pretty expensive.

Unbound ones I give away to those that can use them or drop into the overflowing guild chest.
Low level BTC ones I convert into Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragments for the dead crafting system in hopes it will be revitalized some day.
OTher BTC ones that cant be converted I just delete.
BTA ones I consume on alt packmule toons... some day ..maybe .. possibly.. I will take a storage packmule out of the stable
Would be nice if they just unbind all the tomes.. no point in them being bound.

Finally got around to checking, and my BtC +2 stat tome was tradeable for 9 P'eb shards.

A BtA +1 stat tome that I got from a DD roll was accepted for 4 P'eb shards.
