I'd hardly call any of these events a "perk."

Not signed. I think events are a good way to make new players get some gear and get more interested/invested in the game. A bonus to VIP rewards from the events (smallish, like 10% or something), wouldn't be bad, but I definitely think it should be open to all.
(and I'm VIP, btw)

I have 4 accounts in my family. Currently only one is VIP. The other three account are played regularly but not as often as the VIP account. When events like Crystal Cove happen, it is common for the whole family to log on play the event.

And I'm premium, but probably spent at least $140 on DDO. I might not be VIP, but I'm still a paying customer.
This is a pointless idea. Trying to alienate well over half your playerbase with the enticement of outdated events is also pointless.
I like the idea. The less people are playing the event, the less lag we may get.

Might I inquire as to the reasoning behind your proposal? I mean, if you're making a proposal, shouldn't you be able to outline the merits first?
In the absence of that, we're left to speculate why to agree to this proposal. Is it because we think VIPs form such a minority fo the game population that the attendant event lag would therefore be assumed to decrease? Is it because we assume VIPs should be rewarded with the privilege to grind gear they've probably outgrown? Is it because we want to make some other larger argument about VIP/Premium/F2P and events? Is it because we didnt read Cordovan's locking of other redundant event threads and decided to repost for attention?

No. I like the events, but I have no idea how many of the participants are VIP, Premium, or Free. I wouldn't want to discriminate against any group that adds to the diversity and quantity of players with whom to play.

I'm VIP.
And NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT, NOT signed.
Events are seasonal enjoyment that everyone should be able participate in. Excluding Premium and F2P will a) kill the events due to decreased participation, b) exclude better-than-average loot for the player who is willing to farm like mad for it.

Here's a counter proposal, Lets get rid of all events like was done for mabar!
And why not?
Yes, so that the only thing to look forward to is the same set of quests each day, every day you log on for the next 6 months, until they decide to release an update that you may or may not be able to run.
I see a lot of players losing interest, and dropping.
Events provide variety and kill monotony. If anything, Turbine should add small tweaks each event to make it slightly different than previous events.
VIP and no I don't like events and I rant about them a bit but they do have their fans and if they have them they should be for all
Is this a fishing attempt to figure out who's VIP and who's not?

I suggest the first ever live time for an event be VIP only.

The loot from cove and mabar are not best in slot or anything, but they have been a way for my toons to get decent enough gear to keep going toward the best stuff. I like them for that.

I have been playing since 2007. You HAD to be VIP to play then. When I started it was 14.99 per month.
I have two accounts, one for me and one for my sons.
I was VIP for five years on two accounts.
I bought MoTU and Shadowfell on two accounts.
I have spent roughly $1500 on the game.
I am no longer VIP. Just as I quit being a VIP, Turbine started to offer the perks, such as ELITE opening for VIPs.
What makes you so special?

I am a VIP with three family members all VIP's. I believe ALL SEASONAL EVENTS should allow participation of everyone. This game began as an inclusive experience. Not everyone that participates is able to become VIP's. I do believe that VIP's should get additional benefits as they already do, but not to the exclusion of anyone where game events are concerned. Yes sometimes there is lag where there is large numbers of participants are involved but that is an issue for the developers....ask everyone to write and complain to them not exclude players who love the game as we all do. This type of proposal is a bad idea going terrible. I am shocked that anyone would think an elitist proposal like this would be seriously entertained. Shame on you.

It's not how events work, turbine will never do that. But, it would be a good idea if you were a VIP, you receive free token or whatever (don't have to farm).

Events for vip's only would imply that vip's are special in some way. And they are not. The events should be for everyone.
Whether you are a ftp player, premium, or vip, there is no difference. They are simply different payment options for accessing content. And that's the only difference.
I began in DDO as a ftp player. Bought some TP and opened up a few adventure packs and so became premium. Shortly after, decided to subscribe and go vip, and this lasted three years. Acquired tons of TP from the subscription that I never really spent, so switched back to premium and opened up all the content. Regardless of which payment model I was in, I'm just a customer like everyone else.

How many truly F2P players has this game anyway? I would think most of them are new players who want to try this game out without investing money into the game--which seems to me intelligent enough--but of those that like the game and stay most either go the "VIP" route or premium, where they can buy those options they like without the subscription fee. Of those premium players they're either former subscribers or people who have in many cases spent a fair chunk of change and aren't freeloaders by any means. The op possibly is one of those "VIP" types who thinks those who don't subscribe are freeloading scum, lesser players and human beings. Maybe I'm wrong, but I do get somewhat tired of the sense of entitlement some subscribers express in these forums.

The rewards from the events are actually better for newer/casual players, VIPs wouldn't play them and even if some do want to take part they wont have enough people to play them with.

I agree with Oxarhamar here.
Very glad it's not in your power to take events away from non-VIPs. The community benefits from everyone interacting - non-VIPs might as VIPs, who are running CC together, "hey, is it worth it?"

I think Turbine knows what they want from their events and how to set them up to get it. As they are not already subscriber only, I'm thinking they feel making them so would cause more harm than good.
Which is what I think also. It just seems all this would do is alienate non-subscribers, who are mostly paying customers, without offering anything really worth subscribing for. More a petty jab than anything.
Also, I've never considered myself a VIP in anything.

This. (but spent more than $140)
$140 is more than 1 month subscription, lets exclude VIP. ;)
Not that I care about the events (besides mabar, which does not come back), but locking half the playerbase out of events, which are made to make profit (via microtransactions) and diversity is counterproductive.

That would mean a step back to subscriber only mode. You know, Turbine decided to switch to the F2P/Premium/VIP scheme for a reason, otherwise this game would be dead by now.

I am VIP, and I will not sign this thread.
Events should be open for all players, they are mostly to celebrate various holidays/time of year and that culturally applies to a great many players (Not all since they are pretty American centric) and has nothing to do with account status.
Events require people to play them, and let's assume for a moment an even mix of vip/prem/purefree for a moment, excluding 2/3 of the player population reduces the fun a lot.
Friendships among players do not form out of account status, and playing with ones friends is fun. It's not fun to break up groups who enjoy playing together in a situation like making events vip only.

No way I've spent more $$$ as a premium player than any person that played since live and has paid VIP the whole time. Let's even say the game has been around 20 years. I've still spent more than $2397.60.
