Just becasue they make it a "feature", it doesn't mean we have to play it.
If everyone refused to play CC we could solve the system wide lag problems ourselves.
When/If Mabar comes: we can boycott that too.
This is a classic case of a self inflicted wound people. Just stop playing those things and the game may continue to function.
Can we get some solidarity on this?
Stop CC now, and if there is any lag with any other event, an immediate player boycott should be called (and enforced).

If you don't want to run it don't run it. Don't try and stop others from having their fun.
Nope. With or without events ddo lags.
It was canceled because of all the outcry over dragon lag. If this keeps up for every event we will have none left to enjoy, laggy or not.
*see above*
Sorry, but not from me.
LETS HAVE NO EVENTS IN DDO EVAR!!!!! and force others to not do it? how kind you are to those who want to run it...

u don't have to worry about when or if for mabar. It's dead and will never return. And with it the only thing that could harm the lightspeed that is craptons of memory and an evo ssd.
Well with the exception of the entire zone collapsing.

Boycotts are against forum rules I believe, could be wrong. I've wanted to start them for the same reason. Until we get a good loot-union going we can't have any strikes.

So you didn't notice that the big lag spikes and crazy 'cleaning up old connections' issues started before they turned the cove on ?
Got news for ya ,you can have you little hissy fit and even if it works your still going to have the same issues.
There is something causing the lag that isn't cove related

Let´s face it, lag is induced when...
a) The Spectral Dragon spawns in Mabar.
b) The Caves open in CC.
Maybe this has to do with lots of additional instances burdening the servers?
Solution:
a) Make the Spectral Dragonscales available at a better price, close the Dragonhunt forever. Keep Mabar running.
b) Make the Dragonshards and Stolen Gems available thru barter. Make CC cave instances like the Mabar Dragonhunt instances - when there is already an instance on the choosen level, autogroup the players. Keep instances spawned at an absolute minimum. Keep CC going.

Well I just figured I'd pass on playing while CC was on. It's not really a statement, just seems like the sensible thing to do.

Though the idea of a boycott is ridiculous as there is no way it could be enforced or even picketed your statement is ironic as the event itself stops others from having their fun.

I ran soloed four this morning. Can't find a group, so I solo it.
The loot is good for some stuff. The hat, the trinket, the ring, the Spyglass are all darn useful. Some of the rest of it is character dependent. Such as, I love the Platemail for my clerics.
The Ocean Gems are good.
OP, just take a break from the game then. Enjoy life. Go on a date. Etc etc etc.

I like Cove and Mabar. I'll agree Mabar caused massive issues, and needed (I'm hoping) a full re-write.

Based on many comments, I think the hatred of events is less about Lag and more about people running the events and not raids....

Cue groups with 4 people all trying to run different torch lines, groups with nobody running torches... CC groups work best if you have a couple of minutes beforehand to organise who is going to do what.

It might cause some issues now and again during the few weeks it is running. But to ask everyone else to sacrifice to make one's own game play better during those few weeks is as ludicrous as asking for walking to be banned because pedestrians interfere with the flow of vehicle traffic.

Your exactly right! All the selfish people complained and whined continually about Mabar.
The people that didn't want to run Mabar and the Cove just kept whining till they trashed Mabar next it will be the cove, and any other future event. As far as rewriting Mabar they should have done that. Started from scratch instead of writing a totally new event.

Yes bring back Mabar. The constant whining trashed Mabar, so we need to keep complaining and whining till they hear us. The people who want these events need to use the same tactics to keep the cove and bring back mabar!

How about we boycott posting the same tired nonsense over and over. I haven't noticed one bit of lag since cove opened. Buy a better computer or get a better connection but please stop with the "look I'm cool I hate cove too" posts, its tired and played.

Cancelling Mabar had nothing to do with player complaints about lag.
Cancelling Mabar was Turbine's way of fixing the problems with Mabar.
It's ludicrous to blame game server problems on the game's players. The customer is not the problem. The product is the problem.
IMO, by cancelling the product (Mabar), Turbine took the worst way out. It showed a complete disregard for the game's players.
On that happy note, I already informed Turbine I will NOT be renewing my VIP subscription. That is the way to handle Turbine's boneheaded decision to cancel Mabar.

I'm not asking anyone to sacrifice anything, read my post. The fact is though that I have lost at least 3 hours gameplay in the last week because of "cleaning up old connections" after having to force a client shutdown because either I was stuck on a loading screen or the instance I was in just stopped working.

John Carter series? "Jedak" rings familiar.
As far as The Cove, I like it but haven't actually run it this time (yet). Was too busy with other stuff. I've noticed a little lag here and there that wasn't present before the event began, but nothing unmanagable.

If I'm in an instance with 5 other people and it suddenly stops working for all of us (the only thing that was working was the chat function (as it's on a different server) and we are forced to close the client using Task Manager's End Task function which then leads to "cleaning up old connections" when trying to reconnect and then over an hour later we are all (well, 4 of us, I guess the other 2 had given up all hope of playing that evening) able to reconnect within minutes of each other - explain to me how the hell that has got anything to do with MY computer or MY connection. It doesn't take a computer expert to realise where the problem is and if it did... well, I've been in the industry for over 20 years so you can take it from me, it's their server that's at fault.
Some coincidence!
