6,000,000 Arcane Karma and no way to use it

Back when Turbine increased level cap from 25 to 28, they gave out a freebie -- any recently TR'd character who had a maxed out destiny, would get 6,000,000 karma in the corresponding sphere. I do not remember how recent the TR had to be, but my bard who TR'd just a week or two earlier with a maxed out Fatesinger, obviously qualified.

Since then this toon has been sitting on 6,000,000 Arcane karma -- and no way to use it! Think about it: Getting from level 20 to level 28 takes 6,600,000 xp. By the time I do that, I will have 6,000,000 Arcane karma and up to 6,600,000 other karma. An ETR at that point -- whether it uses Arcane sphere or whatever sphere I will have leveled in, -- will leave over 6,000,000 karma unused. Even if my trek from 20 to 28 spreads karma among several spheres so that only Arcane is maxed out, it still leaves 6,600,000 karma unused. I can never actually use it.

Alternatively I could level from 20 to 28 in an Arcane destiny. Since karma in any one sphere cannot accumulate past 6 million, by the time I am ready to ETR I will still have only 6 million and nothing remains unused. But... without the freebie, I would end up exactly in the same place!

So leveling in non-Arcane sphere makes these free 6,000,000 karma unusable, while leveling in Arcane sphere makes them redundant. I very much doubt that I am the first person to run into this dilemma -- if you did in the past, how did you handle it?

you don't spend any unused karma when you Epic reincarnate except for the specific tree you choose.

So if you have 6 million divine and primal and reincarnate with the fatesinger tree you keep those divine and primal karma.

yeah. So you could level up in anything, dreadnaught, primal avitar, crusader etc, and still get an arcane past life.

What's the problem?

You have XP you won't need to Earn.

Hey, I have 6,000,000 Karma in all 4 spheres each time ETR and level back to 28. 600,000 XP goes to nothing
as well as every time I ITR with all sphere full I level back to 28 without earning any Karma at all.

I understand your situation and am in the same one. But remember, that bonus karma was free. If you do not benefit from free karma, you have not lost anything you worked to gain. Just write it off as what Turbine did to allow people to start ERing when the system came out.

It's similar to the free +20 lesser heart of wood they give for major mechanics changes. If you are about to TR or the changes doesn't affect you, just save it in case you someday find it useful.

I'm rather confused as to what your dilemma actually is. If I'm understanding you correctly, your Bard is level 20(?) and your Karma is prefilled - and this is a problem?

I'm sure I could use it. All of my destinies are maxed out and I currently play a Wizard. I could Epic Reincarnate in the Arcane Sphere then TR into a different (non-Arcane) class, let's say Barbarian. Upon reaching level 20 I could then level from 20 - 28 in a relevant sphere (one of the Primal ones probably) and not be forced to use the Arcane Sphere as I can use those 6 million karma to fill it. When I Epic Reincarnate again I am free to choose Arcane Sphere again. Or you could level your Barbarian from 20 to 28 in an arcane destiny - it's up to you.

When you Epic Reincarnate you will be asked to choose a Destiny Sphere and from that you can choose one of 3 past life feats, it will cost 6 million xp which is taken from the sphere you have chosen.

It's not exactly a problem - it's just that with pre-filled karma I cannot do anything that I could not do without it. To ETR you need two things -- 6 million karma and level 28. (I know, you also need Epic Heart, but ignore that for now.) Just getting to level 28 gets you 6 million karma, so having it pre-filled is really no benefit.

It would only be a benefit if I wanted to level in Melee sphere, yet for some reason wanted Arcane EPL first.
