can someone clarify the ASF with a spell like reconstruct (from wiki)

Similar to divine spells, Artificer-exclusive spells are not subject to Arcane Spell Failure, but Artificers using Sorcerer/Wizard list scrolls are subject to Arcane Spell Failure. So, for example, anyone using a Lightning Motes scroll will suffer no Arcane Spell Failure, but an Artificer is susceptible to Arcane Spell Failure when using a scroll of Reconstruct (available to Artificer but from the Sorcerer/Wizard spell list).

so if they use the scroll of reconstruct they are susceptible, but whatabout just the spell "Reconstruct"? any advice from more seasoned Artificers than i?

Check this build out it's been updated and has it listed for feats so obviously it's workable.

Spells (not Spell Like Abilities) that require a somatic (body) component are susceptible to failure when the body is impeded or encased by wearing armor or a shield. Reconstruct (http://ddowiki.com/page/Reconstruct) spell as per the wiki has a somatic component, and therefore is susceptible to such failure.

Spell Like Abilities do not suffer such failures, hence the power of BF.

but do artificer spells? this is coming off artificer list (similar to how resist energy doesn't have a SLA check despite the somatic if you cast it as a cleric, but does for a wizard), hence the question...

Artificers do NOT incur arcane spell failure when casting reconstruct.

Ya I was sorta wrong before. Answering from my sorc knowledge.

If you cast the arcane version, from arcane classes or scroll you get ASF, but if you cast the Arti version, from Arti levels you don't. So I guess it depends on which spell book you cast it from.

It's sorta like how bards casting cure light wounds should have an arcane spell failure, since bards are arcane casters and bard cure light wounds is an arcane spell, even though the spell is also available to divines with the same name without an ASF requirement.

>> So there is arcane reconstruct from arcane spell book and scrolls, divine reconstruct SLA from BF, and arti reconstruct. Only the arcane ones have arcane spell failure. << The divine one is subject to quell intercession.

To add to what others have already stated, artificer spells are considered infusions and are therefore not subject to arcane spell failure. Artificers using arcane scrolls will be subject to arcane spell failure.

Adamantine body comes with 35% arcane spell failure. The 3rd and 5th cores of battle engineer each reduce this by 10%. A blue slotted arcane agility augment (or whatever it's called) will reduce this by another 15%. Altogether, these will bring adamantine body's arcane spell failure down to 0%.

You can also take Inscribed Armor from the WF/BF racial tree for another -15% ASF.
