My fighter is capped in 3 spheres...I only have the Arcane sphere left...since the only Arcane ED that will do a melee any good at all is Draconic, and I'd have to go through the Bard ED to get to it...should I even bother? Should I go ahead and ER now? And worry about the Arcane sphere later?
Also, since I'm going to eventually TR this toon to a pally, should I get a couple of martial ER's under my belt for the doublestrike bonuses first?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the fate points to get the twists you want right now?

If yes, then ER

If no, then unfortunately you have to play those arcane destinies to get more fate points.

I have 9 fate points available so far.

And I've already got 3 tier 1 twists.

Get the fate points, it's worth it for the better twists. It'll be a big bucket of un-fun suck while you're doing it because Turbine.

You might be surprised, fatesinger's abilities are understated but pretty nice...and you can always twist a few nice abilities from the others to help while you're running it too.

As for an ER now or later.. it's tricky, but IMO for the optimal options you can either:
1) run through the less-favourable destiny while rocking your best equipment so minimise your gimpy feel. Saga xp can be put into a destiny you're still working on, or keep till after the ER then put it wherever.
2) do the ER sooner, have less powerful gear but grab some nice saga completions (quest xp re-levels you & goes into refilling that sphere's karma), and collect the XP while in fatesinger destiny to essentially skip running it at all.

You could also just run elite/true elite sagas while in a capped destiny & sphere combo at level 28 then do your ER & put the xp in fatesinger if you still want to skip that, but then much of the quest xp would essentially just vanish into the ether.

This ^^

I actually find Fatesinger "pretty nice".. It could be better, but for a melee is not "that bad"..
The epic moment should last longer, way longer..

But everyone always complained when I was in fatesinger before DC existed. :(

Everyone who? :D
"Average everyone" now wants you you to run with pally and ranger levels.. So anything else you are doing is clearly wrong..

Obviously Fatesinger is "good" for melee - imo - compared to the other arcane destinies.. It's kinda crappy if you don't have to run in that sphere.. it has potential.. :D dead potential..

Part of the problem is that the abilities are almost *too* subtle.. lucidity is a pretty nice umd bonus but that kind of thing hides in the background, masked ball is a great little mobility booster, siren's song can remove an enemy from the fight for a little while with no save & do some nice damage too once upgraded, reign can be a good damage booster (especially with perfect SWF for double the vorpal range), the various Echoes can have their uses & turn of the tide is great for helping with trash removal.

Depends on if you need the fate points for twisting. If yes, get it over with. If not, maybe put it off.

Welcome to the 100% chore, 0% fun portion of epic destinies. Being forced to run in destinies that gimp your character is a terribly unfun experience. Hopefully some friends you have will let you pike or you will probably have to drop down a difficulty level.

I still have put off grinding through Magister on my melee - and he's been in epics for years. Luckily I got most of my other destinies over with while we could still farm Rusted Blades at cap.

Why oh why devs can't we earn XP while playing our character the way we want? Even if it's at a 50% XP penalty, or 75%, or heck even 90% I'd be totally OK with it. Making epic destiny grinding for every character a misery by forcing us to gimp ourselves to progress - One of the worst design decisions ever in DDO.

/end rant

I apologize if I got off topic a bit.

1. Tr into a sorc, play as an old fashioned evocation focused nuker in draconic. You can bang out all 9 arcane EPL in a very short time like this.

2. stay a melee, play in fatesinger.

No worries on the rant.
I do need the fate points to twist in the higher tier twist thingies. But I'm not in any particular rush to do anything in this game.
I just ER'd my 3rd life arti, and I've gotten him to lvl 22 already, almost 23 now actually...and I can tell he's gonna be even moar beastly.
Though I do wish I'd prepared a bit more with him before I ER'd. I have less than a handful of xbows and runearms he can use right now.
But his spells are starting to hit REALLY hard.

I'd get them over with then. The sooner you get it over with the sooner you can start using those twists you want and never have to worry about running in off destinies again. Also if you do it at low epics it doesn't feel quite as bad since you're a fair bit weaker at 20 than you are at 28.

Fate-singer is pretty awesome.
I don't mean "OMG it's so OP NERF it from orbit nawwww!"

I mean it has something for everyone. It is the destiny I haven't dreaded leveling as an off destiny. Some offs are terrible like LD on my wiz/rogue. But I have always enjoyed my time in fate singer be it a pure monk , my acrobat or my wiz/ rogue.

What's the reason for leveling in off destiny EDs rather than TRing and making them in destiny TRs? Time? Or is it something I'm missing?

Many (probably the vast majority) of people don't like to/don't want to put in the time to reincarnate each character into different classes. Or play every class on each character. Or reincarnate at all. Or play any other classes outside their favorite for that matter.

I hate fatesinger with the heat of a thousand suns. Even on my spellsinger. It was godawfully painful on my rogue. The worst part was the massive UMD lag every time I tried to scroll, which would cause me to then freeze right when I needed to, you know, do the opposite. Obviously there are people that like it, but if you find you don't, you aren't alone. If you really don't want to mess with it, you can always buy a key of destiny to skip through it.
