Best sword and board weapon?

Bastard sword? (probably on a human)

Dwarven axe? (human or dwarf)

Something that doesn't cost a feat?

I'm thinking for the purposes of attaining past paladin past lives and divine sphere past lives, its a moot point, but it seemed reasonable to check in case I'm missing something.

I'll be running heroic elite and a mix of epic hard 80%/elite20% to cap and then turn it around again. And running the normal raid set on epic while I'm leveling (von5/6, FOT, Deathwyrm and Fire peaks.)

I used Bastard swords, mostly for flavor, but also because of glancing blows. You won't have the feats to flesh it out, but I enjoyed it. I used Greensteel, then the Star of Day from Eveningstar comms, then Nightmare and finally Thunderforged. If you can get your hands on the Madstone Aegis, it does very good shield bash damage.

Oathblade, from the eveningstar PDK commendation turn-ins, is quite nice with holy sword on it.

If dragonmarked, you get bastard sword proficiency.
I ran tide turns so much to make my EMG that I have several gear items from Sentinels; otherwise the drop rate is terrible.

eFang is overshadowed by better b.swords at higher lvls (Nightmare, EE First Blood, TF b.sword); but it's still a decent "starter" epic weapon, IMHO, mostly for all the static bonuses, particularly if you can afford the Sentinel DMs. Use, say, eFang for 20-22 (or when you need a DR breaker), Nightmare for 23+, TF as soon as you can.

The light damage from chalice is applied fully to every glancing blow, as is the TOD ravager set, as is the sanctified gages.

The universal answer to best weapon on any setup is always whatever gets you glancing blows.

I'm not a big number cruncher, but for my feat starved, CHA based, PDK pally tank, I've considered dropping IC: slash and sticking with Keen weapons like Oathblade, Nightmare, and First blood.

My question is, from a DPS standpoint, how would an EE First Blood compete with an upgraded Thunderforged Bastard sword:

That doublestike stacks with Zeal, shield mastery, and Unyielding Sentinel. Any items that will give your TF a 15% bonus?

One thing you want to look at with the First Blood...it has Keen II-III on it. I only have the EH version, but with the crit increase from the Divine Crus line and holy sword it seems to increase it more than it should (get +1 or 2 with each tier of Keen an item has?). I was using the Coffins Nail and getting crits with a rolling a nine on it. http://ddowiki.com/images/Coffin_Nail.png I am assuming the EE version First Blood might be the same....can someone confirm or deny that?

A fully upgraded TF weapon have no contender, it has the best base dmg, the best dmg abilities like mortal fear/crippling flames, first degree burns/Touch of flames or shadows, dragon edge/wrath of flames or shadows, etc, between those abilities it can give easily more than 100 dmg per attack, not counting the extra base dmg and mortal fear strikes against trash that can be brutal on EE.

Maybe against a tier 1 or tier 2 TF weapon, the EE first blood can compete as long as the enemy is immune to the TF ability (for example a fire immune enemy if you have touch of flames), also TF breaks most of enemies DR and you can use the Skirmisher's Bracers from army of shadow quest http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Skirmisher%27s_Bracers_(Level_26) if you want some double strike while using TF bastard sword.

So getting IC is worth just to use upgraded TF weapons.

Don't know if the keen ability of first blood is giving extra crit range but that seems not wai if you read the description doesn't stack with IC feat, so I don't expect that to work (if it works cool but probably a bug that could be nerfed)

Although it's not tops in DPS....I like Celestia. Blinds almost everything, even in EE. Really adds to survivability.
