Is there t o send more than one item at a time in a mail to character on same account? And also is 9999 plats really t he limit at one time or am I missing something?

If you are VIP you get the plat transfer for free. Others can buy it in the DDO store (both the base 50K and upgrades).

You can only mail one item at a time. The only other thing you could do is to buy the shared bank.

If you are premium, the plat bank is purchasable only if you own the shared bank, and is one of the biggest ripoff in the ddostore. It's like 2500 TP to fully upgrade, that's 25$, ridiculous.
If you are vip, you only get the base 50k plat limit and still need to pay for upgrades.

The BEST way to move plat, is hands down, to just ask a friend you trust to hold it for you (Up to 2 mil). It works great with multiple items too.

...just don't do it with strangers or you probably won't see your stuff again.

The best way to transfer platinum is to transfer easy to sell items, collectibles, ingredients, etc in stacks to the char you wanna make plat on, then use the auction house to sell.

The platinum vault is a joke, you cannot even buy a feat swap with tier1: 50kpp. Seriously lame.

Please do not give plat to another character to transfer unless you know them in real life and trust them. I have seen too many stories of people screwed out of stuff that they wanted to transfer.
