View Full Version : Anyone seen any named items in Epic Orchard exlorer area?

I went in this morning as soon as it opened, & spent nearly 4 hours out there, and no one in my party, nor anyone I've talked to so far, has seen a single named item drop out there. I thought there were supposed to be some named items dropping from the rare chests out there? All we've seen are epic tapestries, which go straight into inventory. Absolutely nothing named in the explorer area chests.
Has anyone seen any drop?
Edit: To clarify, I'm interested if you have personally seen any named items drop in a chest, of if someone you know has personally seen one drop in a chest. This was not intended as a "how good/bad is the drop rate" discussion, but rather to try to find out if anything at all is dropping. If nothing is dropping then we should all be bug reporting it. It won't be the first time the devs forgot to include something in a release without realizing it.

All I know is we had 3 people, approx. 20 rare chests, and nada... that makes 20 chest X 3ppl = 60 chests and nada.. Also, we did the puzzle and and killed the rare after the puzzle was done, and NO chest at all?? Starting to look like another

I've also heard about the low drop rates from others. They do exist though, just kind of rare.
A few things to consider though. 1) Heroic orchard drops have also always been pretty rare/a pain to get - can hardly expect gimmes; 2) we are not geting another update in quite a while, it seems, so wouldn't it be better to savor what we have now, rather than burn through it in a week?
That said, experience shows that people will complain about drop rates regardless. Last update everyone thought it was too much. Now it's "why don't I have my lootz nao!!" kind of thing. I think of it this way: the pack has rare-ish but desirable loot, and even a chance at +6 tomes - it's pretty well set up to be the endgame pack for the next few months. People will complain, but they'll keep grinding; it's better than having everything on launch day and getting bored after.

I wasn't aware any named loot was supposed to drop in the Explorer Zone - afaik it's all in the quests & raid?

I don't think they are suppose to drop in the explorer area, those are for quests and raids only as far as I know.

If you read the u23 named items section on wikki, it states that the items drop both in quests and in the explorer area (except for the raid items of course). Apparently opening 60 rare chests isn't enough to get one item, so maybe the quest drop rates will be better?

I saw a player yesterday that already had 6 different named items. He linked them all. Now I doubt those came from the wilderness, but at least he was getting a pretty good drop rate.

IMHO...the drop rates in the quests should always be higher than the explorer area. Though it's great that there is a chance for named loot in an explorer area, as it gives incentive to spend more time in there...well besides the really fat XP wasn't enough.
15 minutes, full party, slayer and XP pot, about 4 rares, 1500 kills and a couple journals = 268,000 xp...serious incentive to take eTR toons out there and if you find loot...BONUS!

Quest drop rates are probably better, i just did all 4 quests on EN and one on EH, and I pulled one named, others did pull named stuff, too.

Have not seen anything in Explorer area or on Optional chests inside the quests, but i guess too early to say, after 3 EE quests, the full party pulled 2 items. That is 18 pulls on the toughest diff, so the SRE will be most likely rareish.

Its an easy farm explorer area, they should have low drop rates.
Some appear not to have chests,.. like he puzzle one. don't know if that's intentional or we are doing the mechanics of it wrong, we got tapestries..
Maybe it doesn't give a chest.. in which case that one is just a waste of time compared to ther rest.

I was not asking about drop rates, but about whether stuff is dropping at all (eg: a certain Priest's Torch that the devs swore was in game when it was not). You said "they exist". Have you personally seen one drop in a chest? Or has someone you know actually seen one drop?

Actually, I was seeing enough different items drop in quests, that if he farmed it hard enough yesterday, especially on different toons to prevent ransack, I wouldn't at all be surprised if someone got lucky & got that many. I only got one all day, but the dice gods may not have been in my favor.

Low is different than none, which is what it's looking like to me right now.
That rare does have a chest, but you have to solve the puzzle correctly to get it, otherwise all you get is a boss to fight. If you solve it correctly you get the chest instead. I was with one group that was able to get it once yesterday.

You may be in it primarily for the XP, but not everyone is. The Orchard is not an area that I particularly like, so if there's no loot but a couple of tapestries per rare, then I'll do the explorer area once to clear the map & never again. On some toons, I may not even bother with clearing the map at all. My main toon is fully capped (was going to TR her, but waited for U23 to come out), so all that effort for XP is a total waste of time for me when I could be doing something I enjoy instead.

I didn't see anything drop from the randoms on the explorer area (not sure how many done, probably 20 chests or so). Neither did I see any named item drops from the quests themselves, not in the end rewards. So, basically, I haven't seen any named item drops in the new orchard at all. :(

Didn't see any from explorer chests but ran several EE Quests and drop rates seemed to be very good. I got several items myself and guildies pulled quite a few as well.

While usually a reliable source of information, the Wiki is neither infallible nor maintained by Turbine directly. I suspect that in this case someone either made a mistake or placed a wild goose there for people to chase. I'm quite certain that the Wilderness Rares do not drop named loot - the Heroic Orchard didn't, so why would the Epic?

What screws me up is they unlock themselves. I watched it happen several times. You click "stay put" and 2 minutes later while stealthing through epic elite impossible demands to disarm the trap here comes a very visible hire and the end of stealth.

No but I got some raid loot in Temple of Vol. Is it raid loot? I don't know but isn't that what an orange border means?

This is incorrect. A quick look at the wiki shows that Raid loot used to be denoted by an orange border, named loot used to be blue and random was green. This is no longer the case since about update 19 when the devs stopped caring and started putting either no color border on items or putting blue on raid items and whatever else. Now we are stuck with another confusing clunky system that means nothing and serves only to cause confusion.

oh i thought it denated its abillity to be upgraded to an orange augment slot (didn't know those existed either lol)
silly me for actual thinking based on what the tooltip said and showed...

What I expected as no one posted that they found any, which leads me to ask why a dev didn't respond to the thread and say that rare items simply didn't drop in the explorer area (especially since rare stuff did drop in the last update 3bc..)

No named items dropped for me or anyone in the groups I ran with in the Orchard explorer area. Named drops only in the quests. I was thinking that it would be like epic 3BC with some named items in the explorer areas, as I saw in the wiki that some of them could be found in the explorer area and quests, and certain others only in the Raid.

As for the 3BC comparison: Heroic 3BC Wilderness has named loot, so it makes sense the Epic 3BC Wilderness would too. Heroic Orchard does not have named loot, so it makes sense (to me, at least) that the Epic Orchard does not either.

I seen 4 dropped in the quest.. zero in wild area. Now... here is the question. Which named item drop from where. Is it the same with heroic?
