View Full Version : Light based bow and doubleshot questions.

Hey,

I have two questions I wanted to ask the collective. First, is there a bow or a supply of ammo that does light damage? Was wondering if there was a purchasable option, or better an actual bow that does light damage. My guess is not, but wanted to see if any knew of such a thing.

My second question...doubleshot. My friend and I just reincarnated and for some, unexplained reason my friends Ranger is getting some doubleshots off. He was getting these as early as level 3 (or at least that is when he started noticing them) and he has no enhancements, feats or gear that we can find that is granting doubleshot. Is there some kind of intrinsic doubleshot chance or something? It's happening rarely, so I'd guess it's probably around 2%, definitely no more than 5%.

He's an Elf, currently Rogue 2 / Ranger 3. I just don't see any possible source of doubleshot, yet he is clearly getting some. Any ideas?

Did you also epic reincarnate? And did your friend pick http://ddowiki.com/page/Double_Shot from the prima sphere?

so light damage
Can't think of any named ones, but loot gen Solar and Coruscating exist, and very rare is Auroral, but i don't think it drops anymore.

Brilliance is available on ML 24 Eveningstar challenge weapons

Thanks for the replies. In response to this one, no our reincarnations are all heroic and only the following:
Fighter
Monk
Druid
Ranger

I'm baffled as to where it's coming from, I was wondering if perhaps there was some kind of innate chance for a ranger or elf to doubleshot that's just not listed or some such. Doesn't appear to be so I guess we'll try testing a little more thoroughly on the training dummy see if we can pin down when it's occuring.

Thanks again for the info guys, much appreciated.

How are you sure of the doubleshot procs?
Because sometimes you can get some funny animation/lag issues that will cause it to look like two shots fired at once.

My friend is pretty good at analysis and running test cases. He did single shots to test it, but he just reported to me the reason.

Quite simply, I'm an idiot. I completely forgot about the ship buffs. We created a 2 person guild for our TR's because we wanted to track how well we could do just with those two not really caring about the ship amenities much. With the recent changes that made guild rep not decay Plus the fact that they have permanent amenities now, it seemed a lot more fun so we picked up some for the ship.

There's an archery one that gives 2% doubleshot. Sigh. Made a big mystery out of something so simple. Its just at level 4 and 5 you really notice a doubleshot when it goes off on those lil kobolds.

If you're looking for a bow version of Celestia, then no, I don't think it exists. You can get extra light damage on a bow, as Dexraven mentioned.

If you're looking for something that would be specifically anti-undead, there are a few named ranged items available:

- Shards of Light: http://ddowiki.com/page/Shards_of_Light Ammo available from the Shadow Crypt quest and occasionally on the Auction House. It sounds like this should be exactly what you want, but they don't do light damage, they do extra positive energy damage to undead.

- Bow of the Silver Flame: http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Bow_of_the_Silver_Flame No light damage, but extra effect against undead

I had the exact same issue with doubleshot on my main recently.

I was getting doubleshot for no apparent reason, as I had no past life feats, no regular feats/epic feats, or enhancements or any kind that gave doubleshot. Took me a while to realize there was a ship buff for doubleshot. lol

I wish there was a place on the character screen that would display things like doubleshot, heal amp, and the other things that just are not there.

It will be interesting (but highly unlikely) if the light damage from Paladins in the U23 changes proc for Ranged DPS. Could lead to some great builds if so.

That was my thought as well. My friend and I on our current life are going with a Ranger and FSoul/Bard duo. I was just theortycrafting for the next life and I was wanting to put together a duo that worked around the light debuff of AoV. With the new MRR/PRR enhancements going in a Pally/FS blend can put forth a lot of light damage and I was wanting to partner that with a ranged type but wishing to take advantage of the light debuffing properties.

I kind of wanted a ranger with trapper splash but the only reliable light damage I can find is the artificer rune arms that do light spirals. But yeah...if those KoC works with ranged then splashing that in may do something. But I was hoping there might be an equipment option that I was overlooking.

Thanks to the others for the pointers on Coruscating and such, I may need to just keep looking at the auc. for a random drop with some light bonuses.
