Didn't fvs have access to the DD tree when it first came out? or am I misremembering? I seem to recall there being 3 fvs enhancement trees (other than the racial tree) before I LRed my fvs into an arty

No. There may have been talk about it while Enhancements were still in beta, I don't remember; but since U19 went live, FvS got AoV, clerics got DiDi, and never the twain did meet. A bummer, because FvS could really use more SLAs besides the AoV capstone.

Favored Souls and Clerics used to have something called the Protection Tree. That was rolled into Warpriest. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of?
