i use the songsleep on the drow packs ..works real effective,if players pik em off 1 at a time..party takes no damage in elite then. That's a spot parties wipe alot.

oh yea ....I was in acute delerium, and leader was sayin ,not to bother w fascinate. The shooters were not on board either, they shoot at sleepin flesh renders ,and wake em up ,without hesitation.I'm confused as how players don't see the usefullnes.I Fascinated the renders way quick as they appeared, just to have them awakened...then the beds and stuff are gettin whaled on in the next room as players fight the former sleepin monsters. We were in elite, so random spawns pop quick;I dont see how we coula DPS through as the leader suggested, protecting the shelves and beds with the spawns too, unless we used some tactic like fascinate or ottos dancin,or maybee a fav soul layerin some blade barrier path for the airship parts. We failed ,but i think we had it ,if sleepers were left alone..respawns prob dont reappear if they are immobilized instead of killin em.

Not the smartest Group you had there Powskier :)
And yes, you are right in your assumption that the trash only respawns if you kill it.
I tested that while soloing the quest on Elite (which took an hour or so just for the first part).
When i tried to kill the spawns 1by1 i could't get any furniture to the end because the respawn was way too quick.
So i just lured and grouped every trash mob together in the libraby room and killed them at the same time. Which was enough to get some of the furniture to the end room :)

my 1st real great use for songsleepin was in gianthold when it was a new update. That big mob ,in heart area..I sonsleept 20-30 giants then went to get explorers near...1/2 an hour later they were still sleepin when i strolled back all casually. Now I just blitz em,but I didnt have anything of the sort back then.

I have run with a few really good Bards in my time and have been amazed at how effective fascinate and other control spells can be. If everyone is on the same page and either understands what the spell(s) does or has talked about the strategy beforehand it can be very effective.
The trouble seems to be that some players don't fully understand all the effective strategies of other classes or have a "Kill 'em all" mentality in PUGs. It isn't wrong per say, just seems to be the most effective strategy which is easy to implement in a group where you don't know what to expect from everyone else. I mean c'mon, who really thinks about the game from a Bards perspective unless they have played as a Bard Spellsinger?

I rarely use fascinate in party because too many aoe ability, make fascinate usless. In solo is the best cc.

Abilities like fascinate have the problem of "Until Damaged". Its a problem because people feel that have to fight everything in a room and not work on a little at a time.
Abilities like Cleave, THF and AoE damage spells or multi target spells will splash their way to making this ability difficult to use.
However, in a group with good communication and willingness to work together it can be a very effective way of completing a quest with low resource usage.
As a bard I learned to read the group early to know if my fascinate was going to be worth using to control the pace of the quest. This saves a lot of heartache/headache on my part.

I am sure the Bard said only attack the mobs with the blue music notes over their heads.

People are really lazy, so the best tactic is to grab mobs and fascinate away from normal movement paths so they don't lazy hit them.

Fascinate is just too slow to be useful to me. By the time the lute gets pulled out I could have killed half of them already. It is just too slow. Hypnotism works much better, it doesn't have a ten second animation that makes it useless.

This is really the problem. Everyone just rolls up a fotm build, hits the auction house, and goes straight to invincible mode. The noobs see this, and emulate. Now it's just a silly bad habit... faceroll everything. Then complain about the few quests that are too hard to complete using this tactic. I had a hard time finding a group when haunted halls came out because even though no one knew it at all, every party just ran in and nuked stuff. I mean, I get that on stuff you've run a hundred times, but I really don't understand why you would want to do it on a brand new, never before run dungeon. Unless it's just become a lazy habit, then it makes sense.
It's gotten pretty silly.
