View Full Version : Elemental form - which one first?

I am currently at level 12 with my caster build (a build which I couldn't be happier about, it's _great_ and I am having a blast). So I am just a step away from chosing between water or fire elemental form. Which one makes more sense when you're levelling? Usually fire resistance and fire damage is the natural way to go, but with creeping cold + freezy spray I am actually more inclined to take water elemental form first (even though fire damage is tossed out on a regular basis in most quests).
Any thoughts or advice?

Necro 3/4 wiz king etc, lotsa skelies filled content where you gather most xp in heroics, so people usual get fire form.
But both are ok, caster druid is good no matter what you pick in heroics

This.
Also, Body of the sun is more damage/cast than ice flowers. Water form is great when you hit lvl 17 and cast ice storm for +4 to earthquake DC's. Before that, body of the sun rules.

Thanks to both of you. I was almost going for water elemental form, but I guess fire makes more sense between the levels of 13 and 17.

Fire elemental form first at L13 is definitely the way to go. Body of the Sun is awesome at L13-20ish! :)

Makes me wonder if I should take Enlarge as a feat, since so many Evocation spells are affected by it...including Body of the Sun.

Heighten is a solid choice for a caster druid :)

Enlarge only affects maximum casting range (you can cast em further), not area the of the spell casted itself, but heighten is definitely good for maximum dc

Heighten, Quicken and Enlarge are missing on my list. I have Evo Focus and greater Evo Focus, Mental Toughness, Max, Empower and Augment Summoning at this stage.

I made it to level 13 and I have to agree, Body of the Sun IS awesome. Currently slaying in Sands of Menechtarun and for the first time I *really* want all those gnolls, undead and scorrow to come close so I can burn them to ashes :p

How are you liking augment summoning? Is it worth the feat and are the pets viable in epic content?

Not sure about epic (might consider swapping a feat), but til level 20 I really wouldn't do without it. Also because I am soloing adventures and can raise my own private army thanks to pet, summon ally and hireling. The difference is noticeable and very much worth it, in my opinion.
