I'm thinking about making a wizard and taking it to 20 before doing the true reincarnate thing since I've read that first life wizards are difficult to play at epic elite without a ton of work on them. I'm pretty new to playing arcane, the highest level I have is a level 18 cleric. I just want some wizarding tips for along the way, such as builds and which spells I should pick. Just in general help for a new person. I'm a returning player, I quit a few years ago and decided to return. I decided to play a wizard over a sorcerer because the past life wizard is supposedly one of the best for casters. Any tips are appreciated.

There are two wizard builds listed in my signature, a rogue-splash (Pale Trapper) and a pure pale master (Epic Challenge Farmer) that you could look at to get some ideas.

The only thing that makes the challenge farmer a challenge farmer is that it maxes the skeleton pet line, but you might actually enjoy doing that anyway. I certainly did while I was leveling it.

The only problem for wizards (and other casting classes) in Epic Elite is the mob's insane saving throw. Basically, in EE, they will pass their save nearly all the time, so you will have to use spells with no save
But a first life with average gear can still do fine in Epic Hard (Spells like Finger of Death will not works 100% of the time, but will works often enough)

I found going warforge made it a little bit easier to heal myself when I was learning to play arcanes. EllisDee37 has given you some good builds to play with there though. The good thing about a wizard is you can swap spells around as you learn, and all and all those extra feats and skill points.
