Smite Evil working?

My monk is rounding out EDs and is currently in Unyielding Sentinel. I took Fanaticism, which is supposed to grant Smite Evil. But when I use it I don't see any damage from it even though the combat log says I hit the target with Smite. I also don't see any regen every 90 seconds like its supposed to. So is the ED version of Smite borked or what?

Smite evil (http://ddowiki.com/page/Smite_Evil) is added to the base damage it's not a separate damage number.

That said the damage is based on your paladin levels. (If you are in unyielding sentinel than you have paladin levels equal to your ED level.)

The formula is:

7 + (3 x paladin level)

So if you get to level 5 in US you will do 22 extra base damage on a smite.

It's a lot more useful for someone that is already a Paladin and can take enhancements to improve it.
