View Full Version : Evoker 1-18 TR build

Simple premise is that I have 3 wiz lives under the belt and am looking to do the same with FvS. With most of the other TR's I've run, there's no need to take lvl 19 so 1-18 is what I am focusing on.

I have nearly any wiz gear but very much lacking on any kind of melee weapon. This made me think Evoker mostly so I don't have to spend more time looking/buying melee items. I do have Greensteel HP and SP items. Along with Litany, Torc and most of the other items out of Abbot/ADQ (being a palemaster mostly) and recently made a Blue Dragonscale robe.

Right now I've used helf's dili (pali) to mix in +5 cha to saves and 2 monk levels for evasion, 3 to base saves, +3 to saves and +2 Wis in stance. I'm not opposed to mixing this around a bit but of course, any additional classes make it that much longer till BB. Which, apparently is the bread and butter. I am not overly familiar with FvS so I welcome any advice in the line of evoker with a pali/monk mix. Enhancements and Spell selection are really where I'm hurting here.

Edit: I couldn't find the feat http://ddowiki.com/page/Adept_of_Forms in the build planner so substituted Discipline.

From level 1 to 12 there is simply no faster way to level than Cleave-Greatcleave + any greataxe ideally carnifex/sos. It can be compared to wail of the banshee for low level quests.
That's why I recommend fighter dilly which grants proficiency with all martial weapons. Once you get to level 11 you can swap out great cleave (using very few yellow dragonshard fragments) for Active past life wizard to boost your dc a bit.
I moved monk levels after level 13 so you get to use your blade barriers and heal spell sooner.
Evasion can wait as long as you have ship buffs with 30 energy resistance.
Also you don't need empower healing at all. Heal will cure all your health points and before that Just put on your hotbar one cure critical with quicken and maximize on it for emergency situations. Usually you can just top yourself off using cure serious wounds without any metamagic.

Interesting. They've added the whole enhancement tree stuff since the last time I played a FvS, but I was a pure FvS and found it to be quite powerful in its own right, but I am really liking the idea of a monk splash on that.

I went Elf for the Undying Court Line - the ability to raise people at 6th level was really sweet. And instead of greataxes (another really interesting twist), I went TWF scimitars. The elven race added a lot there, as well as undying court. Admittedly, that was before the Vorpal nerf, but at end game, with dual vorpal scimitars, I led kill counts, beating out other melee characters. It was quite powerful.

Agree not to over-emphasize the healing aspects. Healing is quite unnecessary these days (for the most part) and focusing on it is probably overkill.

If you are also doing 3 sorcerer lives I would start there first, having +3 to your evocation dc is so sweet on a fvs :)

If you've already invested the time and gear to do 3 wizard lives, I also recommend doing 3 sorcerer (if you intend to do them) before FvS.

Other than that, I'm a huge fan of staying pure for FvS, and have used the half-elf w/ fighter dilly for leveling 1-12. One reason for this is splashing on a FvS reduces your DC's (and if you intend to do an evocation or necromancy focused caster, you don't want to lose 2 levels) and pushes back the point where you'll receive key spells. (Blade Barrier at 13 or 14 instead of 12???? Oh my, no way! :)

Good luck!

2barb then 18sorc.

Horc, max wisdom, 18str, rest of your points spread between con and cha.

pick up power attack and the cleaves, make sure to get sprint boost, proceed to sprintboost and cleave your way to blade barrier.

Then continue to sprintboost and blade barrier your way to a pastlife.
