Does anybody know (and feel like sharing) what determines the chest level from the treasure maps?

As far as i can tell, character level plus any loot gems running.

Pretty sure it's not that. I built up 30 maps on my level 28 toon and started cashing in. The first ten were all level 18-21 loot. I popped a +2 loot gem and the remaining twenty chests were still all level 18-21 loot.

It seemes that there's a loot cap on those wilderness chests - bummer.

Actually I believe it is based on your character level plus normal adjustments, but since the cap was 20 the first time CC came out the chest level is probably capped at 20 (plus adjustments). This is certainly the case if you are still heroic.

OP may have run into ransacking penalties when the gem was running, I don't know if they apply in CC.

Only had 6 of one type (name) of chest, the rest were 1-4 of each type (name) and never saw the "you have looted/ransacked this chest often" msg.
