I am on a capped WF Arty who is level 18 and holding the last two levels. I just noticed today that he is rolling Arcane Spell Failure while having only Composite Plate (No mithril or adamantine) and the third bottom tier of the Battle Engineer Enhancement tree, Infused Armor and casting from a scroll Mass Invisibility.

So, natural ASF is 5% and the Enhancement is supposed to improve this by -10%, effectively zeroing this out completely.

I have been rolling ASF still though, and have failed at a 5% and under on scrolls. (Character is wearing Docent of the Silver Flame and a blanked out Docent for these tests.) Character is also wearing a runearm only during these tests as far as an off hand is concerned (specifically a Lucid Dreams masterfully crafted for level down).

I cleared enhancements completely and reapplied points, but system is still rolling, and sometimes failing to cast. (To confirm, UMD success on these scroll is 100% and this failure is specifically attributed to the ASF).

Some Text pastes below.
(Combat): You roll to see if your Invisibility, Mass fails because of your bulky equipment. You roll a 5 : arcane spell failure!
(Combat): You roll to see if your Invisibility, Mass fails because of your bulky equipment. You roll a 8 : arcane spell success!

On other scroll casts, such as Greater Heroism, Invisibility, Mass Protection from Elements and there is no ASF check being completed.

Can anyone else confirm this on a similar character or confirm additional instances of these failure checks? Do high level scroll casts have higher ASF (If so, why did the mass prot work?)?

I wonder if it's only spells which were originally exclusively type as Wizard/Sorc?. In your above example, the scrolls that work
are also available as spells to other classes (i.e. Bardic, Divine)

Dumb question, perhaps, but have you tried taking the first tier of WF Inscribed Armor? This should negate Composite Plating's ASF. Wouldn't surprise me if Infused Armor doesn't apply to WF/BF properly...

From the ddo wiki....

Any scroll of a spell on the Sorcerer/Wizard spell list will be susceptible to "Arcane" Spell Failure even if the reader should not be subject to it - ie the reader is an Artificer, Bard wearing light armor, divine caster, etc. Thus, for example, Clerics cannot reliably use Protection from Energy scrolls in their heavy armor. This behavior may be modified in the future, as developers have acknowledged it should not work this way.

Hence ASF is broken.

Also the reason my bard has a check for ASF, when casting shield spell from a scroll when naked. Which is stupid.

Well, that explains it. Thank you.
