View Full Version : Mobs hitting harder doing mor damage after hotfix?

I have never wiped in EE madstone, and we wiped 3 times. I am looking at my combat log, with a 155 Fort, im getting 350 damage from minotaurs and giants, and they arent crits. everyone is getting 2 and 3 shotted. anyone else experiencing mobs hitting harder than before?

Is anyone in Shiradi or using Colors? I took a 450 hit to the face in Trial by fury from a mob that got adrenaline from us.

This has always been my experience with EE Madstone. The mobs hit very hard and getting three-shot when you go toe-to-toe with the mobs is just what happens.
You really need very effective CC and/or ranged damage if you want to do this one on EE at level. I avoid this one on my healer-types because you get a lot of melee characters who go in and grab multi-mob aggro and then go ding in two seconds. Very few in-your-face fighter-types are really able to do that in this quest.
Having said that, though, I think this is a great quest to test your melee survivability. You can really see the effects of AC (almost none), Damage Reduction (little helpful), PRR (more helpful), Dodge (more helpful), Displacement (very helpful), Healing AMP (very helpful), Evasion (situational but very helpful) and self-healing (most helpful) not to mention all sorts of of other tactical things like crippling, trip, etc.

Invis til first set of skelies, kill, atack giant talk to him, ignore caster. Go to first seer, start blitz kill. Invis to 2nd set of skelies, repeat for first set, invis to 2nd seer, grab agro from spawns, pike at top near caster. Invsi to 3rd set of skelies, kill, kill giant, invis to third seer, grab aggro from top, go bottom, start blitz with minos, or if you were lucky and skelies followed and blocked path, pike.
Invis to boss, kill, win!
Add 1 person that doesnt understand this way, youl get red alert, possibly die.
Add 2+ persons taht know this, you can split and complete madstone quite fast at level.
Not that hard even as melle. Smart melle.

Im not asking how to do the quest, I have done EE madstone prolly a hundred times. I just dont remember it being that difficult is all. maybe i just had a gimp party but those hits seemed a bit high.

That's the sort of change that would make sense, since the main consensus to come out of the Official "Balance" and "Monster Stat" threads was that, in EE, melee is too easy and mobs don't hit hard enough.
But, sadly, I haven't been in-game since the hotfix (work, sigh), so I can't confirm or deny your experience.

pretty sure they said anything that comes of that thread will not be implemented in the near future. so theres no reason to assume they intentionally changed that aspect of the game either way.

I noticed that after hotfix, many mobs hit harder, even on HN.

You can pike at first seer too, also can pike at 3rd seer without skellies, if you know how.
