Nestroy

Who says there will be no update, hotfix or patch... These are the usual prolonged downtimes we have from time to time, and sometimes we get some new program data packages via updater afterwards. Since not every hotfix is discussed into details (and Cordo even had to swing the "stop-or-be-banned"-bat last time, I would guess we will not get too big an information on what they are hotfixing together with the general downtime this time either. But it would be nice to see some less expl*bannable word* afterwards.

Cu online tomorrow after the downtime!

It shouldn't take 6 hours to remove that shadow cloud effect from the new gear, but if that is what it takes please do it. it is well worth the wait!

another downtime... for 6 hours... to fix bards? Sure they are the best class in the game, but how much nerfing do they need??

Forgot to add that in March alone we'll have 18 hours of down time... and the month isn't over yet folks.

It would be awesome ...
If turbine for once fixed some off the broken / bugging stuff.
Maybe even nerf the black cloud on new stuff / nerf the pink shadowside in mirror darkly.

But servers probabaly go down to fix some random exploits like always.

I am so old, that when i started gaming ddo - the bugpaige on ddo-wiki was only half a page.
Nowadays it takes a full hour to read the bugpaige on ddo-wiki ... sadface.

MAINTENANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I bring down the servers for standard maintenance, I would make sure to roll out and include every bit of fix that has passed QC until then. Downtimes are good for such things, because you do not have to put up a long "fix" list and do not get annoying questions on what is fixed and why other things are not.

Maintenance is such a beautiful word...

Since myaccount is down, I think this maintenance has nothing to do with the game side, but more on the login server side.

Maybe they discovered that the account login servers were dropping connection and making accounts invalid during gameplay.
Maybe the login servers just needed the three finger salute because of memory leaks.

Better than the one-finger salute before shiping them to the fill, I would say... Anyway, if they have to have downtimes, it is logical to assume, since DDO is no newbie company in the business, that during downtime they will try to do maintenance on the game servers as well as putting forward any update finished so far... Just good old data economics, imho.

Hopefully they can get the hamsters running again and finally find a way to bind the lag monster so it does not raise its ugly head like it did the last days...

12 P.M. is noon, so 6 hours of maintenance. However, this is usually confusing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour_clock#Confusion_at_noon_and_midnight) so my recommendation is to write 12 noon or 12 midnight to distinguish. 6 A.M. to 12 noon would be clearer, I think.

Always jumping the gun on Turbine. On noes! Maintenance! The horror! It's not a patch or update. It's Maintenance, otherwise the turbine site would be up still. I know you might get confused by what is what, but chill... it's ok. I'll hold your hand if you need me to. It's gonna be alright. I promise. 6 hours is quite a bit, but I don't think we've had any maintenance runs in a bit, so to be expected. :) As for 18 hours... lolz.. XD Funny, but it's alright. People make mistakes. Actually, most of the non-English speaking world (and a large part of the non-U.S. English speaking world) uses the 24 hour clock and would automatically see "12" as being noon.

I've always found it weird that what people in the U.S. call "military time", the rest of the world just calls "time". (And I am a natural born citizen of the U.S. who sets all his clocks to 24-hour readouts.)

I'm not sure who the poster is so I can't vouch for their time reading skills, but I took this to mean that cumulatively for March we have been down 18 hours which is inclusive of this 6 PLUS the other maintenance, hotfix, patching or whatever you want to call it that they have already done this month.

I'm not even sure if 18 hours would be accurate if you include the update (when did that go live?). It may have just been coincidence that 18 also happens to be the same number if you misread the time (6 AM to 12 PM).

Again it's how I initially read his/her post and further thought so because they said that it has been 18 months so far and it is not even the end of the month. So he had to have been adding things up and not just a single downtime incident.

Not many country in europe uses am and pm. Usually instead they use the 24h in recent time or say "noon" "1 in the afternoon" "midnight" "1 in the night" which removes the confusion of am and pm.

Where i live in germany all the time are written in 24h cycle , and pretty much only in oral parlance you use the 12h cycle.

I was talking about cel phones, desktop clocks. People still have clocks in their houses, sure, but I don't even look at it.
Here we don't say "I meet you at 6 in the afternoon" or "I meet you at 10 during the morning", we just say "I meet you at six" and the person already knows if its afternoon or not based on the time they had the conversation. If it's not specified, the other person asks "6 at morning or at afternoon?" So, not familiar with it.

Yes, there is a confusion in the AM and PM stuff, that's all, like a guy said: I just don't use it.

Wuyondra carefully drew back the string of her composite bow. The bow hummed with ancient arcane magical power. With every inch she pulled the magic arrow that materialized grew, until upon full draw the whole arrow was visible. A final check revealed that the Mindflayer was still unaware of her presence. She took one last deep breath before loosing. The arrow whistled through the air finding it's target. The Mindflayer howled in pain and tried find where the unseen marksman was, his long fingers gesturing in some weird sign language. His tentacles writhing as he spoke something. But before he was able to complete the spell another arrow tenfold more potent than the first slammed into his chest, the force knocking the creature off his feet...

Yeah but ,at least in germany, if you speak of 12 hour times if the time would be ambiguous we tend to add either at night or during day.
It's mostly the P.M. or A.M that gets people that don't regularly use it, i mean who speaks latin anymore nowadays (And why do americans insist on using latin, inches, yards, miles and all that stuff :P).

Then again some fellow germans never understood me if i say i'll pick them up at three quarters five, instead of quarter to five. It was quite baffling to me that couldn't understand that so there.

They "upgraded" to a rental server farm "with faster servers" 4 years ago.

Just remember... those 128meg DDR DIMM's are notched on one side.

I also wonder if they could give us much larger number of monster battles if they fix all the monster scripts and upgrade their lease to beefier servers. Who knows... bottleneck may be something they have less control over.

I feel special, your first post and it's quoting me!

Worse, the perma-death guild had an in-character council meeting to discuss the rules of such a death. Meanwhile Wuyondra stood, waiting for a GM to come to her rescue. Being she was f2p none came. The council spent the next hour nerd-raging about the rule.

...as Wuyondra fell forward she perceived a sudden surge through her body. Part adrenaline, part wild Fey energy had come to her aid. Her fall had become a a practiced roll and with cat-like agility she was up on her feet again. Her vision was still wavy, her head was clouded. Yet somehow she was moving again! At that moment the Flayer completed his gesture and let the death ray surge towards the stricken Drow. Wuyondra saw the creature scream out and unleash the spell almost too late. Almost... But she had faced this situation more than enough now. Digging her boot upon the floor her powerful quads catapulted her lithe compact frame into the air, she somersaulted over the head of the creature, while simultaneously drawing and firing at the direction of the scream. Although she could not see her foe her keen hearing was enough. The arrow hit true as she landed on her feet behind the creature. The Mindflayer slumped to the floor. Dead. Wuyondra drew a deep sigh of relief.

...as Wuyondra fell forward she perceived a sudden surge through her body. Part adrenaline, part wild Fey energy had come to her aid. Her fall became a a practiced roll and with cat-like agility she was up on her feet again. Her vision was still wavy and her head was clouded. Yet somehow she was moving again! At that moment the Flayer completed his gesture and let the death ray surge towards the stricken Drow. Wuyondra saw the creature scream out and unleash the spell almost too late. Almost... But she had faced this situation more than enough now. Digging her boot on the floor her powerful quads catapulted her lithe compact form into the air, somersaulted over the head of the creature, while simultaneously drawing and firing at the direction of the scream. Although she could not see her foe her keen hearing was enough. The arrow hit true as she landed on her feet behind the creature. The Mindflayer slumped to the floor. Dead. Wuyondra drew a deep sigh of relief.

Or that, haha. Nice diversion during the outage Shoot.

Eeek! they changed time?
Realitively speaking that's not fine,
But, to be fair since e=mc^2
And we have that in the bank,
Everyone forgets about Planc.

But before he was able to complete the spell another arrow tenfold more potent than the first slammed into his chest, the force knocking the creature off his feet...

...Wuyondra moved in for the kill. She was no longer worried about stealth. The caster was down. It was time to finish this. The Mindflayer knew his time was up. Where had it come from? Nobody can hit that quick! He spat out blood and felt his life ebb away. He knew his assailant would finish him but he he had one last chance. He grasped the charm around his neck and spoke the single command word. Wuyondra saw the movement and reacted. Firing another arrow. But it did not strike the wounded creature. Because suddenly a a fierce blue energy bubble had materialized around the Mindflayer! The arrow hit the bubble and was no more. Wuyondra tried to notch another but found she was unable to move! The Mindflayer rose awkwardly to his feet, his breath was shallow his breathing rasped. The Energy bubble dissipated leaving Wuyondra now free to move but she was slowed. Her mind was swimming. Her vision blurred. She stumbled and fell forward. The Mindflayer now saw who had almost killed him. This was it? I stupid Drow female! No. He would not die by her hand. He began to chant the death spell again...

The lag is awful today, running with a constant 10%+ loss, rubber banding everywhere in the haunted halls, maybe another 7hrs is needed.

Open your task manager and check the awesomonium processes. Started my game tonight and noticed horrible lag with wonderful low fps like action. Opened mine up and saw 8 awesomonium processes running, closed them all down and game ran smooth after that.

First time ever had that many running at game launch.

What is "awesomonium" and should I kill it every time I log on?

I think it runs for the DDO store to work, and I kill all but the top one listed in my process list, so if 5 are running, I kill 4 of them.
