Come on people, they wouldn't take all the servers down for trivial bugs that aren't causing real problems.
I've been playing since launch, and the ONLY time the servers come down for "emergency maintenance" is to address something major.
Case-in-point, the downtime last week to address the magic d20 die during a live event was important enough to bring the servers down to minimize the problems.
Now, I'm not sure what the issue actually is, but stop guessing minor bugs that don't affect everyone! It's going to be something major for them to take the servers down.

Hey Cordovan please keep the lines of communication open. That is one of the things players really want to have with turbine. We always applaud it and usually get annoyed when we don't have it.

Be up front. We don't need specifics but it would be nice to give us a general idea of what is happening.....instead of the usual vague and mysterious.

Especially the people that can not play today because of the servers coming down.

Can we make sure to have the bonus days turned back on after the maintenance? It was scheduled to be through today this time, would be a shame to lose it because of emergency maintenance and no one turning it back on.

My guesses,

That player that had all the card Xs on the first day and was able to tell us about all the eternal potions. That was fishy.

Maybe turbine figured out what is wrong with the bags, but that does not warrant a downtime.

Maybe Turbine figured out what is causing connectivity problems that people have had.


Card XI explicitly states on it what you get when you combine it with 1-5. It's the only one that does. I imagine they did it that way to keep the bellyaching to a minimum when people put together and eternal flask of haste that lasts 1 minute with a 5 minute cool down.

Well, Cordo, did we name anything specific? But after your reaction, I would guess we had not been too far from the truth. Why not simply saying that you fix something nasty. Nothing wrong with that...You do not need to be too specific anyway.

In the past, hotfixes anyway were coming only for two reasons: The E-word and broken game mechanics that hindered people from doing / completing / buying / playing DDO at all or the new stuff, but did not hinder them from ranting in the forums. I have rarely seen a hotfix adressing the ladder bug. :)

Wow people take these downtime's way to personally. I am off work today would love to be leveling up my ranger to but things happen. It's obvious to anyone who has been here long enough when they say a downtime and give no explanation to why that its something that cannot be mentioned. I am pretty sure a lot of people on these boards are smart enough to put two and two together..though after reading some threads maybe not.

What id like to know is when will we get fixes to some of the more annoying issues that has come with the new update? I brought a new computer my optimal settings on it allows me to see DDO in such beautiful form yet just logging into the game is a nightmare, the lag beast has killed raiding for me. And I am beyond annoyed with the potion issue, key to Eveningstar and other little things that would not normally get to me save they all seem to be occurring at once. You guys are trying your best and I know things have been rough this year but it really feels like the same ole same ole after coming back from a break from this game.

Would be nice if there were any plans to improve performance in new thunderholme wilderness, at the moment its pretty unplayable with full raid party. Also one dude ingame mentioned implement spell power doesnt apply on thunderforged kama... Also one phylactary portal is inaccessible in shadow dragon raid due to pillar blocking the laser beam... Omitting some bugfixes will cause the bug list to grow bigger...

Anyway do not expect explanation concerning reason of downtime... Developers and "Community dudes" are just Turbine workers, you expect them to say "I would tell you what is the downtime reason but my boss does not let me to do that"? My assume is that it might be some exploit, would be a little shame to say the reason if it was big thing that could unbalance some aspects of the game if spreaded widely, don't you think? Another option might be some security issues / technical stuff. Can only speculate, there are tens of potential technical reasons to close a server.

And you guys act like EVERYONE in the whole game knows about EVERY exploit. I'm not the sort of guy who rages due to 2 hours maintenance. I just don't like to see people asking what's going on and the managers ignoring it.

I've played with you enough to know that you at least have a fully functioning brain and are able to piece this together and figure out "why" on your own. See I have actually rolled a few and no matter what I did i had to keep them under a mask. Spider mask don't help, but the skull masks (store or other) and Minos works fine. The issue is less about the DS and more about how much hype they put into the 'beautiful' new race when they compared them to half-orcs. yea, it might be years old but I still think some of the staff rolls them exclusively.

I could be wrong on all this, but I still see Cordovan running around with a half-elf fighter/pally/monk. maxed diplo and bluff, barb past life to rage when made fun of, rouge dilettante for sneaky attacks, tossing around a maul just to be blunt.

uhm... truth to be told, the time thing confuses me too, mostly cause I am on a totally different time zone, and now you guys have changed by another hour and we don't have and i have a hard time keeping my time zones straight even under normal circumstances.
so I can relate to getting it wrong. but before I throw a tantrum, I simply check on the current time at some place other than my home. And throwing tantrums is way too exhausting anyway.

I hardly see how a person asking for an answer to a question about a service they are paying for makes them children? If u took your car to a mechanic to get worked on would you accept it is broken pay this much as an answer?
If your appt management said you need to get out for maintance would you accept that as an answer? I hardly think so. If you pay for something then it is your right as a consumer to either receive the service you have paid for a resonable explanation on why you have not recived it and some type of compesation to accommodate there lack of service.

They do this because they haven't grown the capacity to rationalize and connect finer points together. Yes, us adults understand why we aren't being told specifics, and why this must be, but the children cannot. It's why they come here and ask why why why, and then get upset when they are not told. Just go with the flow, You would eventually find out why or what is fixed, and even if you didn't which probobaly means you aren't (or just barely) affected by it, it's not the end of the world (and probably not the end of the game either). And yes it is not bad to know what is being fixed, but only slightly better than to know something is fixed.
(yawn again, and it is 8pm (no nap time atm) where I live)

Make a big deal about the fact that they won't discuss the problem that needs fixed, or just be thankful that the problem IS being fixed. edit an extreme form of capitalism is the Night-watchman state (about most of the western countries in like the 18th century)

Well, socialists and communists all over the world do not like it, but both the Italian Fascist Movement (Benito Mussolini actually has been a leading socialist before founding the movement) and the German National-Socialism have had their similarities to socialism AND communism. If not always to the word, so to the methodology... But what we currently face is not socialism, it is Corporate Fascism. And our governments are bending over and get (cencored).
