View Full Version : Spotting sneaky creatures...

Of late I've encountered a problem with spotting sneaking creatures - creatures that I was able to see the outline of before. Creatures like hyenas in the Sands of Menechtarun wilderness, night scorpions and hell hounds in the Sorrowdusk Isle wilderness, etc. I'm a level 19 elven ranger with (currently) a spot skill of 42 (including Wild Instincts). Is this a bug? Or is it a correction of sorts? I think that this started with last update or the hotfix.

I can still spot sneaking creatures (since I am currently only level 4 I am talking about kobold sneaks, etc.)

After reading this: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/438463-Weird-graphics-glitch, I decided to test it for my problem - as the issues seemed as if they might be related both in regards to timing and to invisible creatures.

I went to visit Stinkpelt's friends in the Sands of Menechtarun wilderness. I let four hyenas pass me and they were still invisible - though I 'heard' them (red). Then I turned off multi-pass lighting. Moments later, when the same hyenas passed me again, I saw their shadowy contours - like I used to before the last update. I did not bother with Wild Instincts this time (as it has never been needed before), so my spot skill was 32.

I've noticed the same problem since the last update as well, but only in outdoor areas. Inside dungeons, I can spot higher level creatures hiding than the ones I'm missing outdoors. It's rather frustrating, since I've just started running an archer and it's hard to shoot hidden enemies that are only showing up in the focus window.
