I searched for any threads about this.... With Update 21 the "strike" sounds on melee hits have changed and don't seem correct. For example
Axes used to chop or clang, now they just thump like a wood stick
Hitting an incorporeal with Ghost Touch used to make a shock sound, now it's silence and hard to tell you've hit
Anyone else getting this? I'm on the Mac client.

at first I thought it was lag. the thump sounds is actually confusing because it doesn't "feel" like im hitting something. I hope this is a bug will change back.

Not a fan of new Unarmed/Handwrap sounds either. Preferred the old sounds, but I guess there are more important bugs to fix.

Scimitars are making wooden thumps as well. Longswords still make satisfying chop noises so I don't think the changes were intended.

I noticed this too. I was using the level 20 paladin hireling who wields two hammers and it sounded like he wasn't hitting anything. It wasn't until I noticed the damage numbers that I realised it was a problem with the sound. It makes sense that hammers would make a duller sound than swords, but they need to increase the volume or something to make it obvious that hits are actually happening.
