Currently, when you build a bit of kit from Vaults of the Artificers, you can upgrade the Tier to gain a Craftable slot. Except for the level 20 gear. When you upgrade that, what you instead get is Augment Slots. Mostly useless augment slots (you really, really need to add more effects on Colorless crystals). What I propose is that you change the system a bit so that when you go to upgrade a level 20 item, you can choose an item with an Augment slot (as per current), OR an item with a Craftable (+3 for tier 2, +5 for tier 3) slot. This choice would make the epic loot much more valuable to people (i.e., ME).

For example, I absolutely DO NOT need a Colorless or Green slot on my level 20 Ring of Master Artifice. Period. It's a useless feature, and so I have no incentive to run the epic versions of the challenges. Give me +3 in crafting on it, however, and I will grind the heck out of the epic mats to upgrade it.

I have thought something similiar. Having craftable on everything else, and then removing it from Epic versions does not make much sense.

Thing is,if that were to be implemented, you'd have the ability to use masterful craftmanship on the item, effectively making it lvl18,and thus use what is meant to be an epic item, while you yourself not having reached epic levels yet.

Just put an Absolute Minimum Level on the level 20 items. Then, you can have augment slots and make it craftable too!

Just curious--what is it that you would craft on it? At level 20--I am not sure there are many things worthwhile for an epic character that would fall under Min level 5. There are some utility buffs like feather fall, blindness immunity (I think that can be done on a ring under 5), but these are also available as augments (of course it would be easier to craft feather fall than pay 20 tokens for the augment, if I recall correctly).

So, let me get this straight. You'd rather replace the ability to get +6 to a stat and heavy fortification with the ability to put +3 to a stat on your item. Or, OOOOH +28 potency. Seriously? Have you LOOKED at what you can get for a +3 "craftable" bonus? Not to mention that +3 crafting = +5 ML. So your level 20 item becomes a level 25. Wow, huge improvement.

Augments are much, much, MUCH better than craftable bonuses. Period. Anything that's worth crafting on you can get in an augment slot anyway. Feather falling? Yellow augment.

This was my argument, though I stated mine more kindly.
